Motivation for fallen away Catholics to return to the Church

Many methods have been used so far with little success. The Church needs to address the real issue and answer the real question " what is in it for me?" The Church has not answered that question.
Yes, there is clear answer.

The Church certainly has answered this question for many people who do return. Myself included. Not sure what you’re getting at.
 
Sorry but there’s a huge amount of motivation and people return to the Church all the time. Salvation, truth, the Church Jesus founded, the Eucharist, a rich and deep tradition of prayer, the Blessed Virgin Mary, you name it. Your post is very strange.

We are all part of the Church. By and large, it is us, the laity, that have the most person-to-person contact with fallen away Catholics. Priests and religious don’t encounter them on a regular basis.

We need to love them, invite them, and be a witness to them. We all need to be part of the solution.
 
People return when they’ve had a strong and compelling encounter with the Living God through the Church.

What that “looks like” is different for every individual.

It might be the example of a good Catholic, or a book they read, or a series of life events.

We can only plant the seeds.

Ouch.

No wonder people would fall away, because if it’s all about ‘what I get from the Church" and not "what I can give to God’, they’ve already missed the boat.

Although for some people, asking these questions may be something they need to do, and is a legitimate step on the way.
 
Yes, that’s true. I just hope that when the OP gives us the ‘real answer’ it won’t be something like, “The Church has to motivate the fallen-away by changing teaching A, B, C etc”!
 
Actually, Christ was clear.

Go into the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.

After that, we are to be the salt of the earth and a light on a hill “let your light so shine before men that they see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven”.

What is in it for me? Joy.
