Two times in my short life have I had a moustache. Once when I was 17 and younger and this year when I was 19 and 20. I kissed the moustache goodbye again either last night (I think it was then but I could be wrong) or this morning. With the moustache I look older. I have a baby face so without it I look about 14-16 or so. I shaved it because I thought it looked kind of creepy, but then again I kind of liked it. Kind of a pointless topic, I know. But what do you think?

Personally, if your avatar is your real face, you look decent without it but I don’t know what you look like with it also.
Also, if looking older is important for you, that’s another consideration. Do you find disadvantages from being taken for younger?

Personally, I’m a little “envious” you have a mustache. I’ve been growing mine since middle school (I’m college now) and it’s still very faint. But alas, we shall overcome.

Yep, that’s me there. I don’t really care how old people think I am, but it can get tiresome when people think your in high school. Also, lets just say my latest stache’ was kind of cheating. I tried to do the 40s-50s pencil thin moustache, but I darkened it with eyebrow liner to make it look thicker and less messy/awkward. 😛

In my opinion, very few guys can pull off a mustache by itself (without the beard). Tom Selleck can do it. Mike Ditka can do it. The janitor at my old grade school could do it. But that’s about it. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I grew out a goatee a few times. But my wife hates facial hair. So it’s been a long time. 😜

If you like it and want to have one, that’s certainly your prerogative. But if you think it made you look a little creepy, I’d probably go without if you’re at all interested in courting the ladies. 😊

But what do you think?
It’s up to you. My barber always tells me I look younger without facial hair – Like I care about looking younger.
Summary
Mid-fifties.
I typically grown seasonal facial hair – A beard in the winter
Summary
Feast of St Francis through Ash Wednesday
and clean in the summer. But if I grow an off-season beard, I frequently trim back to the stache when it is done, as this year when I was done with my Penguins Stanley Cup Playoff Beard. 🧔🐧🏒🏆😃
Personally, I’ve never grown a mustache – I’ve always grown a beard, then shaved it down to a stache (in combination with a soul patch).

This isn’t me, but it looks more or less like this guy

It all depends on the face.

For you Melodeonist, no 'stache. It would just make you look like you are trying to look older, but would not work…
Someday, you will be glad that you have a young looking type face. And I believe you will have it for the rest of your life. So embrace the young you.

Yeah… Some guys like to point out out that a moustache makes their friend look like a porn star, so there is that too. Tom Selleck is one of the guys that can pull it off. Sam Elliot too. He might look weird without it. 😳

I think you’d look incredible with a great big giant beard and stache, especially if you play the accordion. You just need a bowling hat and then you could get a job playing at a restaurant bar or a boardwalk or something?

I couldn’t take the tickling of my nose! Or being mistakenfor Burt Reynolds! 🤔

My dad has had the same mustache since the 70’s-- in the late 80’s-90’s-early 00’s, he was usually the only guy in the room with facial hair.

Then, hipsters started trying to look like lumberjacks— and I was surprised when I went to my younger brother’s birthday party, and my husband was one of only two clean-shaven guys in the room, and my dad’s perpetual mustache looked downright tame in comparison to some of the facial hair in that room.

A friend of mine does the waxed mustache thing. It looks very theatrical and dramatic-- and it looks good on him, because he obviously takes care of it.

I think that’s what facial hair comes down to. It’s a very deliberate look that’s cultivated, so it shouldn’t look accidental or halfhearted. Stay clean-shaven until you find a look you want to cultivate, and then jump in with both feet.

I had one a long time ago ( in colllege). A bear also later. Now I cant stand them and think they look goofy on anyone.

I have only shaved my moustache twice since I was 12. It’s a part of me.

I have had a mustache and full beard since I was discharged from the military in 1976.

At one point, after taking vows of the evangelical counsels as a brother/hermit, I had a beard that went all the way down to my belly-button. I had to throw my beard over my shoulder, or down my shirt, to eat dinner 😉

For some of us I guess it is quite natural. I saw Gerald McCraney on the Emmy’s last night. I cannot imagine him without a moustache.
