Hello! I have always loved this forum even though I’ve never posted anything till now. I’m saddened that Catholic Answers isn’t backing up these forums. So, I want to, in these last couple of days, to get everyone to help archive as much of site as possible.

Practically: I want everyone to use archive .org/web to back-up all the topics they themselves have made/started. It takes very little time. I hope many discussions will be saved through this.

Well, people have been archiving discussions here and there since at least 2006

As someone who has been archiving a bunch of my own topics, I can tell you that if someone has participated regularly on these forums for years, ain’t no way they’re going to be able to archive every topic they started before the forum shuts down. Not even if they wanted to spend the entire rest of their holiday break sitting here doing that. Archive.org is running pretty slowly these days and if you have a long thread, you need to archive it page by page. It’s not a small task.

If there is some topic that a person found helpful enough to want to save, s/he can either archive it to Archive.org or use one of the other methods such as putting /print after the URL and printing/ downloading the result (this doesn’t work so well on thousand-post threads).

Sorry, should have mentioned: if you log-in you can use a “save outlinks” which will archive all outlinks. So just use this feature on your activity page and it will go much faster.
