If you have Netflix, watch Ride like a Girl. About the first woman jockey to win the Melbourne Cup. She’s from a Catholic family with 10 kids. Her brother has Downs Syndrome. Priest and Sisters shown as good people. Was very surprised at Catholics depicted so well.

Sounds good but I don’t have Netflix. I boycotted them when they outwardly supported abortion.

My wife and I were looking for something to watch on Netflix the other night and I remembered this post when we stumbled on the movie. I would never have guessed from the movie’s title/description that it had such a positive Catholic theme, so thanks for steering us to a worthwhile movie!

Yes, they also have ‘Paul, Apostle of Christ’ on Netflix.

Ladder 49.

While my husband and I were investigating Catholicism (after 47 years of Evangelical Protestantism), I had a huge stumbling block with baptism. The Catholic teaching on Baptism is so different than the Evangelical Protestant teaching, and I was having a hard time accepting the Catholic teaching.

Then we watched Ladder 49–and it all made sense to me! To this day, Ladder 49 has the clearest explanation of Catholic teaching about the Sacrament of Baptism of any source that I’ve seen. Seriously!

It’s not really a movie suitable for young children. It’s about rough, tough firefighters, and it has some deaths in it. But it’s really good. My favorite actor is in it (Robert Patrick).
