The whole “purge mass” shootout in the movie was in an obviously fictitious church called – well, I won’t say the name here out of respect for real churches that have that name. However, it seemed like the NFFA used the church on their own initiative exploiting Purge Day loophole and not an officially sanctioned church event. Or, did anyone get the impression that the Catholic church – as depicted in the movie – was sympathetic to NFFA and the Purge? The cleric, the one who was later shot, was obviously NOT a priest.

Are you saying the movie is anti-catholic? I have not yet watched it.

honestly I dont like the vibes the movie gives off. Not only is it a bit immoral as ALL crime is legal for 24 hours, but it seems impractical. What would prevent me, hypothetically, from stealing a nuclear submarine in this fictional world?

I wouldn’t get hung up on it. It’s just fiction. It is indeed impractical.
It is interesting that you asked what would prevent someone from stealing in this fictional world - is it the law or a sense of morality/ethics that prevents most of us from stealing?
