I rented this DVD last night, was a pretty good movie, I cant think of the actor that plays Frankenstein, but he does a great job portraying the mad yet brilliant scientist.

The frankenstein monster was only in the movie at the very end though and only alive for about 10 minutes.

There was no sex, nudity or even bad language in this movie!

Anyone else see this?

I have never read “Frankenstein: A modern Prometheus” but if the story is true to Mary Shelley’s version. It quite probably would be free from a lot of that. It’s Hollywood that sticks the other things you mentioned into their mostly garbage.

This movie was very ‘hollywood’, the actor that played Harry potter was the supporting actor in this movie, I cant think of the name of the guy that played Victor, but he has been in lots of other movies. I was very surprised there was not one curse word.

I think it was still rated R though, (maybe PG13, not sure?), but I think this was due to it being pretty scary at the end, the frankenstein monster is extremely frightening.

The one part I found to be the most scary was when the monster was up on the cradle, right after Victor threw the switch sending lightning into the body, then they show a close up of the monsters face (covered by a cloth), and then show breath coming out, from the cold air…that was just freaky scary to me.

The actor’s name is James McAvoy.

LOL You think that’s scary. Well ok. But Saw 8 is coming out next year. The mysteries are continuing. I think it’s going to be great.

Well, it was ‘scary’ in that it was a dead body, and then a close up of it taking its first breath…yeah, kinda scary imo.

I would never watch the Saw movies, I cant tolerate gore and torture scenarios. I used to love the Return of the living dead movies though, but something changed in me, and I can no longer watch the scenes that involve blood/ guts.

Maybe “suspenseful”. That’s the term I use. I think I know what you mean. Just a little mild to me. But no cursing or nudity. That’s a real plus. 👍

Yea, back in my days, it would have been mild too,

Its sort of similar to what happened to the guys girlfriend in Return of the living dead 3, she was killed in a motorcycle crash, but the saddened boyfriend knew there was a chemical that could bring the dead back to life (but he did not see how vicious they became), he takes her to the govt lab, and sprays her with the chemical fog…scary music playing… you see her hand start twitching…then she opens her eyes.

This may not be really scary, but it is in a way, when you see this happen, you just know what the results are going to be, she is going to slowly change to a vicious flesh eating zombie.

ROTL 3 was full of nudity, sex, cursing, gore though, I could not watch it anymore.

Yeah they don’t need that stuff. The gore I like. I find it suspenseful I think because it only works once.

The official Catholic stance I would like to know on the Saw movies if there is on. When I watched 7 I wasn’t in the Church. Now that 8 is going to come out I certainly hope there’s no nudity in it. But the Church says nudity isn’t sin. I guess it’s your lusts.
