Non-spoiler: Did the priest really tell her in confession that it was ok to lie (specifically, that she was the one who really did the paintings, not her husband)? This was based on a true story, and supposedly, Margaret - who was played by Amy Adams in the movie - was raised Methodist, but later converted to Jehovah’s Witness. Absolutely fascinating movie for those who are familiar with the real-life back story, but I’m curious about her relationship to the Catholic church.
