Yes, this video is relevant to the Social Justice sub-forum.
I agree, but think eventually the sweat shop and factory owners in these places will come to realize they can do the same thing, without the american ‘middle man’.The film is about the working conditions of overseas clothing manufacturers, as well as the lack of safety standards on this imported clothing.
I do not see Americans ever changing though. We are comfortable being the slave-drivers and sweatshop owners, as long as it doesn’t happen on our soil and we can buy a blouse for ten bucks. Oh, and as long as we can bury our heads and ignore the human cost to cheap fashion. Maybe one day God will make the change for us.
It sure does now that Goodwills are basically outlets for Target overstock in a lot of places. My local Goodwill in a well-to-do area won’t take stuff that isn’t basically brand new because they get overstock from big box stores to sell.I imagine that stuff said in the MsMojo video will scare some people into buying clothes from secondhand stores. Does the typical fast-fashion outfit of the modern era even make it to Goodwill?
No offense, Tis, but fast fashion is usually associated with outlets such as Zara, H&M, and Forever 21. I can’t say that fast fashion is typically associated with Walmart or Target. It sure does now that Goodwills are basically outlets for Target overstock in a lot of places. My local Goodwill in a well-to-do area won’t take stuff that isn’t basically brand new because they get overstock from big box stores to sell.
