Well, I’m trying to have a discussion without polemics, so give me a hand folks.
I guess I AM driving at some of those hard questions christians ask. Was it a ‘mistake’ (or a sin) for Muhammed (is that spelled right?) to take an underage girl for a wife? If muslims admit that actions like this were sinful or even ‘mistaken’ then IMO, there is hope for the world that Islam can grow to where it no longer tolerates some of the early ‘mistakes’ just as judeo-christianity has grown to where recognize that Soloman, though chosen by God to be King in Israel had a screwed up idea of marriage and that we should not take his version as an acceptable example! (hundreds of wives and MORE concubines)
If, on the other hand, every act Muhammed ever did is considered an example for all muslims for all times, my optimism is considerably diminished.
