If my memory serves, somewhere in The New Testament Jesus refers I think to the pharisees as “multiplying Laws” or something similar. Could someone give me the exact quote and reference please…

Thank you…Barb

Went through my search engines, six sources. Multiply or multiplting doesn’t appear on NT, only twice in OT. Could it be multitude and loaves? Can you give me something further?

Hi there Dancus and thank you for trying to help me…no I cannot recall much about the quote and I could be completely wrong about it, but I though it was in connection with laying burdens (pharisees) on the people by multiplying laws…

Thank you again…Barb

I’m not sure if this is what you had in mind but Jesus did speak against the Scribes and Pharisees for teaching as doctrines the precepts of men:
6And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, `This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; 7in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.’ 8You leave the commandment of God, and hold fast the tradition of men.”
9And he said to them, "You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God, in order to keep your tradition! (Mark 7:6-9; also see Matthew 15:1-9)
Jesus also spoke against the Scribes and Pharisees for binding heavy burdens and laying them on men’s shoulders:
They bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with their finger. (Matthew 23:4)

They are the quotes I had in my mind, Todd…either I have read a different translation, or I am mistaken in my own memory…thanks heaps!..Barb
