I agree it was malpractice. The implant should have been fitted correctly. But even then she could have become pregnant.
I, too, used to place my faith in ABC. Then I had a Pill baby and 5 years later a condom baby. No, I didn’t use either incorrectly. The Pill failed when I was placed on an antibiotic for a lung infection and no one told me the class of antibiotic I was on decreases the effectiveness of the Pill. So at least I know what happened there. The condom failure I have no idea.
My ex had a vasectomy while I was pregnant with my middle child. I know for a fact it was done at a major university hospital because I arranged the appointment and waited while the procedure was performed as well as cleaned and checked the post surgical wound. We separated a year later and then divorced. He remarried. He now has two children with his new wife. A friend of mine, also a male who had a vasectomy, has also fathered a child.
A female friend of mine who has since passed away had a tubal ligation due to some serious health conditions and became pregnant twice after the procedure was performed. Unfortunately, she miscarried both babies.
So, yeah, even sterilizations have a failure rate.
