Yay! Other alt-industrial catholics!
I felt like i was the only one- other than gothcatholic.
People look at me funny because I belong to vampriefreaks.com. But for me, it is the music, not the lifestyle.
It is fun to go to alt-industrial clubs every once in a while though… interesting people 😉

Beside Rammstein, I also like E Nomine, Kreftwerk, and Gregorian.
E Nomine is wonderful, and of course we’re huge Kraftwerk fans here (you have heard Rammstein’s cover of Das Modell, yes? I like both versions, although apparently Kraftwerk hate the song) 😃

Gregorian… they’re okay. I’ve heard a few of their songs, and it’s a neat idea, but the execution could be better.

More on the folk-metal note: a lot of you guys would probably love Qntal. The closest comparison I could make is to Nightwish, if Nightwish didn’t suck. Like some of the other groups I’ve mentioned here, they mix traditional music with rock and electronica, mostly the latter – it’s excellent, and has a permanent place in our playlist whenever Nepenthe can stand German music (I’m the one with anything resembling a command of German around here – Nepenthe thinks it’s a great language for swearing and not much else 😃 ).

Do you mean that they should stick to German?
Oops, your right, meant to say that they should stick to German. Thats was happens when you type at 1am, my brain was tired:)

I’m glad I brought this topic up. I was dreading what people would say, but it seems there are a lot more Catholic Rammstein fans than I thought.

**Is this song about Catholic priest sexual abuse?

Hallelujah!

He is religious and very sensitive

on his wall is a picture of the Lord

he wipes the spots from the Bible

he gladly distributes the Communion

He loves the boys in the choir

they keep their souls pure

but the tenor worries him

so he must be the closest to him

on his nightstand, quiet and wordless

a picture of the Lord

he slowly turns it around

When the church clock strikes twice

hallelujah

he folds his hands for prayer

hallelujah

he has remained without a wife

hallelujah

so he must love his neighbor

hallelujah

The young man is allowed to stay with him

the sin nests above the leg

so he gladly helps to exorcize them

to music and candlelight

When the church clock strikes twice

hallelujah

he folds his hands for prayer

hallelujah

he has remained without a wife

hallelujah

so he must love his neighbor

hallelujah

When the church clock strikes twice

hallelujah

he takes the boy into his prayers

hallelujah

he is the true Christian

hallelujah

and knows what charity is

hallelujah

Turn around slowly

Turn around**

The song came out during the time of the Church scandal, when you had so many cover ups of abuse. I’m sure thats what the song is about, but it doesn’t come right out and says it.
I’m sure some catholics would be offended by the song, but I consider myself a devoted Catholic and am not offended by it. The Church was involved in a horrible scandal, one that it got itself into, so you can expect to see songs, books, ect about this subject.

Is this song about Catholic priest sexual abuse?
Yeah.

‘Spiel mit Mir’ is about gay incest. ‘Mein Teil’ is about erotic cannibalism. ‘Bestrafe Mich’ is about S&M. ‘Tier’ is about incest again. ‘Spieluhr’ is about a child being buried alive (ends happily though). ‘Feuer Frei’ is about suicide. ‘Rein Raus’ is just plain about sex (the noises were made by distorting chainsaw revs).

For a good time, find a video of a live performance of Bück Dich 🙂

No, some of those are wrong. To say Mein Teil is about “erotic cannibalism” isn’t actualy true. Yes, it is about cannibalism, but it’s written about an actual event that happened in Germany some years ago. The members of Rammstein were on tour at the time and saw an article about the event. They were disgusted but somewhat fasinated that something like this could happen in modern times, so they descided to write a song about it. Ok, maybe a strange thing to write a song about.
Feuer Frei isn’t about suicide, it’s about the different kind of pain, physical and emotional.
Rein Raus is about rough sex, but not in a glorifiing way.
there are different opinions about Bestrafe Mich, what I’ve heard is that it’s about religous fanatics that punish and hurt themselves in the name of God.
Some of their subject matter can at first glance be deemed as objectionable, but you have to look at the deeper meaning, they don’t actually ever come out and glorify the objectionable content. And most of their songs can have many meanings.
While I don’t like the performance of Buck Dich (don’t actually care for the song either for that matter), and did find it objectionable, I do know that they try to shock people and they thought at the time that it was a funny performance. They no longer perform that song though.

Went back and read the lyrics to Teir and Spiel Mit Mier. Tier is about incest, where a father rapes his daighter. It’s ays the father is nothing more than an animal and because of that his daighter is very tormented as an adult.
Spiel Mit Mir is a harder one to understand. It does seem to be again about incest between siblings, though it does not say whether it’s homosexual incest. Again, I read that they wrote it to show how imperfect and twisted some familys can be, again not glorifing anything.

No, some of those are wrong.
shh! 😉

And yes, of course I’m familiar with the Armin Meiwes story – it was exactly what I said it was. Let’s not beat around the bush: Rammstein’s lyrics are some of the most hilariously obscene things ever to grace the throat of a burning German. They’ve had numbers about practically every sin in the book with the exception of simony (one I always thought far underrated and underexplored). They’re Germany’s GWAR, plus keyboards. And I love them for it.

After all, ‘it is not what goes into a man that defiles him’, hm?

Someone made me a copy of Ramstein a few years ago back in the days when I thought copying cds and video games that I did not own was not stealing. I think it sounds really neat and I think it’s best I don’t understand the lyrics since I probably would not like them. Only thing I know is what tier and du hast means if I even spelled that correctly

Guys i strongly recomend you to watch Christian documentary movie about it all… lasts 4 hours and evidens were beeing collected for long period of time. Name of movie you can watch on google video is “They sold their souls for rock and roll”

No elvis was not possesed. This is just supporting theory of electromagnetic fields and he was only under influence of world around him wich is scientificaly prooven fact. Believe it or dont. but we are living in this universe/ matrix and many things are beeing proven type electromagnetic fields and theyr influences.

The video says in the very beginning that “the spirit world was using him.”

And that Presley used his supposed Christianity as a cover-up for “what Satan was actually doing in his life.” The quotes they use are all taken out of context. I think this is funny, it reminds me of “Reefer Madness.”

Well he was part of Crowleys sexual revolution that went through music. Just look at all those girlies that would give their virginity for him… and what consequences woudl it have for destroying families :3 im not very well introduced to Elvis but did yo uwatch whole 4 parts?
He was not possesed, he was influenced and they was war for his souls like for any of our souls right now.
P.s. you saw part where Red Hot Chili pappers thank satan at award getting? and whats the deal with beatles and their source of motivation on front cover of SGT. Peppers album.
?

Yeah, the difference between you and me is that I take performers as performers. I guess you must think Ozzie Osbourne sold his soul to the devil too. He was just on heavy drugs and liked the fame that his act brought him. A lot of these groups were doing drugs and alcohol at that time. In fact I would venture to guess that 99.9% of them were doing drugs, it was seen as just something normal back then.

Anyone with fame and notoriety is going to have “groupies.” There are women out there who would go with Donald Trump, you know?🤷 Elvis was a good looking man. Yeah he had some sexy moves on stage, caused a storm with them, and benefited from the storm.

Who is Crowley and why do you think these musicians had anything to do with him? The sexual revolution was not just music at the time, it was all through society.

Watch the movie i recommend ;D i dont think any of them sold his soul directly, Prayer can help you with time to understand truth … and if im right truth is what i told. Drogs are main medium for comunicating with sata, Crowley said it himself :3 This movie has some parts that might sound weird but if you have some scientific knowelage about electromagnetic fields and stuff in global + leadign of God things get clear a bit.
God Bless.

I am a native English speaker learning German in school and I have to say I love Rammstein. The teacher even uses Rammstein to show certain concepts (das Perfekt in “Du Hast”). Rammstein talks about uncomfortable things (see: “Hallelujah”) and I respect them for that. Their songs are good and as long they don’t damage your faith, I see no problem with them. I often find myself quietly singing the song "Morgenstern: when I feel sad.
