It didn’t lake long for our music group to tinker with the new translations.
A couple of things I am unsure about:
1)Can you add words to the Alleluia Proclamation? Other than alleluia. 2) Can you add words to The Great Amen? In the case of the great Amen the word is just a simple word it is the actual verb, singing.
3) Can you change the number of times you sing a line of a prayer? At the Holy Holy Holy they sing the last line “Hosanna in the highest” 3 times.
These may seem little but I was just wondering if they are common or something that there is latitude to play with.

All responses used in parishes are supposed to be approved by the diocese. Easiest thing to do is contact the Office of Worship/liturgy for your diocese (number/email on their website) and ask if they have been approved. There are variations of the responses which may repeat text; adding or changing text is a more serious matter, but just check with the diocese. If it is not approved, speak to the music director first, then the pastor.

Nope. Alleluia, gospel verse from the lectionary, alleuia. That’s it.

No, the response is to be “amen” and nothing more.

Number 3 would be ‘yes’ based on what was allowed by Rome prior to Vatican II. Phrases were permitted to be repeated for the sake of the musical integrity of the composition.

I was wondering about this. Is there a document I can read that states this?
The only thing that bothers me about this is sometimes things are said a number of times in Mass and the number is there to have a meaning. Like Through my fault, my fault, my most grievous fault. and so on. So doesn’t the idea of changing the number of repeats in something else just to fit a musical style place an undo emphasis on some things?
