A couple of months ago, i was in Las Vegas with my wife (she had a conference). Anyway, we saw a decent number of Muslums there. I am pretty sure that gambling is forbidden in Islam, and I never saw any of them doing so, but I figured that there would be issues with even BEING in a casino.

Can Muslims enter a casino with no faith issues?

Is the attire of the staff important? Many of the waitresses wore very revelaing clothing, at least by Muslim standards.

Does it matter if the hotel has a casino?

Please, guys, let’s keep this from being a Muslims are hypocrits thread. I would like some answers to this.

Let us transpose that into a different key and take another look at it:A couple of months ago, I was in Las Vegas. Anyway, I saw a decent number of Christians there. I am pretty sure that gambling is forbidden in Christianity, and I saw many of them doing so.

Can Christians gamble in a casino with no faith issues?

Is the attire of the staff important? Many of the waitresses wore very revelaing clothing, at least by Christian standards, and as for some of the floor shows!.

Motes and beams. You said yourself that you did not see any of the Muslims gambling. Did you see any Christians gambling?

I don’t recall ever hearing that Islam prohibits gambling. I recall some recent stories about annual camel races in Islamic countries. I would expect races to involve betting; so would be surprised if races are allowed and betting forbidden.

Just my uninformed :twocents:.

Let’s wait for the Muslims to answer and hear them out, please. 🙂

Most Christian denominaitons have no issue with Gambling within limits. Sorry…

However, some Christian denominations do have an issue with any gambling.

I also think that most Christian denominations would have a problem with some of the floorshows.

True, but the specific question is about the casinos themselves, the hotels, and resturants, not the shows.

Bieng Physically in a casino ofcourse isnt a pleasent thing, although it isnt explicitly forbidden. generally a muslim should try as much as possible to stay away from sins or what can lead to them . If you know ‘‘for sure’’ that you will expose yourself to unnatural inappropriate closthing then i think it is a sin toi go to that place. On the other hand , people dress skimpy in the street as well, but in this case it is not a place you chose to be in as you have to be on the street to live your normal life.

However, gambling is forbidden in Islam. Not all muslims follow what islam teaches .

You can set a prize , you can say that whoever wins the race wins 1000 dollars for example. But you cant bet on a horse .

Basicly , if you are paying money and putting it at a risk , and the rewards or losses of this risk are based purely on luck , then this is forbidden gambling.

According to my Muslim friends, gambling is forbidden, which is akin to life insurance. In the Qur’an, Allah mentions gambling alongside shirk, divination with arrows and alcohol.

But as long as the insurance company is run by Muslims, exceptions can be made.

yes ; here is the Quranic verse :

O you who believe!

Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, Al Ansaab, and Al Azlaam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Satan’s handiwork.

So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful.

Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allaah and from prayer.

So will you not then desist? [Quran 5:90-91].

God ordered us to ’ lower gazes’ & avoid anything that can lead us to adultery. So , One must not go to any place where s/he knows that people will be around half naked , alcohol will be served & gambling will be played etc etc.
Does it matter if the hotel has a casino?
yes ; a believer must avoid any such place .

My Qur’an teacher lives in Las Vegas. I think that’s pretty funny actually. So I know for sure there are Muslims there. 😃

And honestly, it really really bothers them what happens there. My teacher is actually planning to move back to the East coast soon I think.

In general, if they are practicing, they avoid altogether the places where (1) women in revealing clothes would be seen, (2) alcohol would be served, (3) gambling is practiced, and all other varieties of bad things are going on.

But not every “Muslim” is practicing Islam. And that’s a fact.

I know a group of Saudi Arabians and some of them went to Vegas and gambled; they also drink regularly, visit strip clubs, and some of them fornicate. But they also fast and pray during Ramadan. I’ve also heard that a lot of Muslim men from the gulf go to places like Thailand and sleep with child prostitutes.

Islam has a double-standard for men and women. If a woman in Islam sleeps with men, gambles, drinks, etc. the punishment is severe. Men are allowed to do that sort of thing in Western countries and are allowed to commit lewd acts with non-Muslim women, since non-Muslims are only “pigs and apes” according to the Noble Qur’an.

I think that i can say same stuff about many Christians and generalize on Christianity , but i won’t , cause i am better than doing that and my Islamic faith teaches me better than that .

bye

Thank you to everyone who helped.

I am glad that it was more or less charitable.
