I was told that the Virgin Mary was (according to the Islamic faith) went up a mountain , spoke to God and came back with a baby.
She was not and never married.
My question is how could a women at that time do that!
She would have been stones ASAP for being a whore.
Can any Muslims here explain?

Read the story in the Quran

Surah Mary

16.Relate in the Book (the story of) Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place in the East.
  1. She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent her our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects.
  2. She said: “I seek refuge from thee to ((Allah)) Most Gracious: (come not near) if thou dost fear Allah.”
  3. He said: "Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son.
  4. She said: “How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?”
  5. He said: “So (it will be): Thy Lord saith, ‘that is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us’:It is a matter (so) decreed.”
  6. So she conceived him, and she retired with him to a remote place.
  7. And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm-tree: She cried (in her anguish): “Ah! would that I had died before this! would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!”
  8. But (a voice) cried to her from beneath the (palm-tree): "Grieve not! for thy Lord hath provided a rivulet beneath thee;
  9. "And shake towards thyself the trunk of the palm-tree: It will let fall fresh ripe dates upon thee.
  10. “So eat and drink and cool (thine) eye. And if thou dost see any man, say, ‘I have vowed a fast to ((Allah)) Most Gracious, and this day will I enter into not talk with any human being’”
  11. At length she brought the (babe) to her people, carrying him (in her arms). They said: "O Mary! truly an amazing thing hast thou brought!
  12. “O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a man of evil, nor thy mother a woman unchaste!”
  13. But she pointed to the babe. They said: “How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?”
  14. He said: "I am indeed a servant of Allah. He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet;
  15. "And He hath made me blessed wheresoever I be, and hath enjoined on me Prayer and Charity as long as I live;

It really doesn’t matter what the Coran of Mahometans say about the Virgin Mary.

Every word in the Coran is a lie, including “a”, “an”, and “the,” anyway.

I confess there is NO GOD but Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and Jesus is God Incarnate risen from the dead.

Muslims believe that the very first miracle that Jesus (pbuh) did was to talk while still a baby in the cradle in order to protect the honour of his mother in the face of accusations of being unchaste by members of her community.

There is no mention and really there is no room for Joseph the carpenter in the Qur’an and the truth of the matter is that he is not needed at all as a husband in order to preserve Mary’s position of utmost reverence because it was her infant son Jesus (peace be upon them both) who protected her honour while still in his cradle.

By comparison, what do Christians believe is the first miracle that Jesus (pbuh) performed?

Well we all know his first miracle was when he turned water into wine. So that the wedding in Cana could still be celebrated!
At least Jesus performed miracles, MANY miracles after this.
And Joseph was needed as the guardian of Jesus, this is why he really did marry Mary before giving birth to Jesus. Not some nonsense about Jesus speaking as a newborn.

Muslims have no problem whatsoever in accepting that Jesus (pbuh) spoke as an infant in order to protect the honour of his mother.

Why should Christians find this action of the infant Jesus (pbuh) to be so objectionable to their beliefs?

because Mary was protected since day one when she got married and second because Jesus speakig in the cradle is taken from a legendary book.

Isnt it so good that the first miracle he performs is to get everyone drunk at a wedding that was not his or his responsability for…
I’m sure he could have chose a better occasion for a first miracle dont you think??

What do you mean?
it is taken from this apocrypha which says as well:

On a certain day also when the Lord Jesus was playing with the boys, and running about he passed by a dyer’s shop, who name was Salem. 9 And there were in his shop many pieces of cloth belonging to the people of that city, which they designed to dye of several colours. 10 Then the Lord Jesus going into the dyer’s shop, took all the cloths, and threw them into the furnace. 11 When Salem came home and saw the cloths spoiled, he began to make a great noise, and to chide the Lord Jesus, saying 12 What hast thou done me, O thou Son of Mary? Thou hast injured both me and my neighbours; they all desired their cloths of a proper colour; but thou hast come, and spoiled them all. 13 The Lord Jesus replied, l will change the colour of every cloth to what colour thou desirest; 14 And then he presently began to take the cloths out of the furnace, and they were all dyed of those same colours which the dyer desired. 15 And when the Jews saw this surprising miracle, they praised God.

maybe if you go deeper into things, you will understand the theological implications .

I (Jesus) am the true vine, and my Father is the true Vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away: and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch, and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.” (John 15:1-6)
these stone jars held water for Jewish purification rituals. it is the replacement of water with choice wine, better than the wine the guests had been drinking. In the context of a wedding feast (Mark 2- 19), we find Jesus using the symbolism of new wine in old wineskins… Replacing the old with the new, that is.

According to the alternative and contradictory version of this story in the third chapter of the Koran, Jesus could speak in the cradle as a sign of His prophetic mission, not necessarily for the defense of his mother’s honour and chaste. In Surah 3 we can never see/hear Jesus speak for this purpose since that surah forgets to narrate that people accused Mary of being unchaste:

Surah 3:45-47. (And remember) when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a word from him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, illustrious in the world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (unto Allah). He will speak unto mankind in his cradle and in his manhood, and he is of the righteous. She said: My Lord! How can I have a child when no mortal hath touched me ? He said: So (it will be). Allah createth what He will. If He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! and it is.

Besides, it is NOT true that the Koran denies a human guardian for Mary other than Jesus. The following verse actually implies that Mary was entrusted to a man that was chosen by the Jewish religious authorities in the Temple:

Surah 3:44 This is of the tidings of things hidden. We reveal it unto thee (Muhammad). Thou wast not present with them when they threw their pens (to know) which of them should be the guardian of Mary, nor wast thou present with them when they quarrelled (thereupon).

In my opinion, the more important question Muslims should ask themselves, why God made that special birth, yet he made Jesus no more than a messenger according to the Islamic faith.

I definitely agree with you. 👍

Consider the story of Adam and Eve.

Adam (pbuh) was created without father and mother.

Eve was created without a mother.

By any reckoning, both of them had a much more miraculous birth than Jesus (pbuh).

Should we therefore assign divinity to them as well?

Dear hamba2han,

Consider the following:

1) Neither Adam nor Eve can be compared to Jesus because they both were created directly by God and therefore had no parents. Jesus, however, was BORN of a mother without a human father.

2) Adam and Eve were the first parents of mankind. Jesus, on the other hand, was not the first man on earth.

3) We Christians do not call Jesus Son of God because of His miraculous nativity. This sort of a mistaken presumption is also present in the Koran. The truth is that Jesus did not become the Son of God as a result of His miraculous nativity, but was born miraculously because He IS the Son of God.

:amen:

Muslims call it a “miracle”. what is a miracle that either neither seen, nor proved, nor serve any purpose in Islam? prophets made miracles for a reason. This miracle has absolutely no reason in Islam.

Exactly!

The Koran also fails to narrate how those people of Mary’s folk reacted to a baby speaking in the cradle. Did they believe in Him? Did they think he was a magician by birth? Did they think he was a demoniac? No answers to these questions in Surah 19! The author of this chapter makes baby Jesus speak in the cradle and abruptly jumps to the denunciation of basic Christian tenets, forgetting about Mary’s folk in the secene. 😉
