Thanks but no thanks. We have fasting during Lent, which lasts longer than Ramadan. Maybe you should try fasting during Lent if Ramadan ends too soon for you? 🙂

What stops you from fasting at other times through out the year?

What stops you from reading the koran and praying and gathering with relatives through out the year?
I don’t know why Ramadan passes so quickly, but maybe because we enjoy it so much and don’t want it to end.
🤷 If you don’t want the “fast to end” well then continue it.

I’ve been visiting islam forums through out the internet and the most common question has been how to combat “bad breath” during ramadan.

The answers I’ve seen is that you cannot during “fasting for ramadan” brush your teeth, use mouthwash because nothing can enter the mouth…
Ramadan is the month that God sent down the Quran to Prophet Muhammad which makes it even more special.
 I’m too tired to tackle this one…
Surah 2 [185] Ramadan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur-an, as a guide to mankind, also Clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (between right and wrong).
Ramadan is not the month of TV shows.
Well for some it is.
It is sad to see some Muslims spending a lot of time watching the new shows and dramas in Ramadan.
Perhaps they are not “real” muslims.
If you watch TV, at least choose some good channels such as Al-Resalah where all the programs are about our faith.
I wish all the Muslims Ramadan Mubarak, and I hope that non-Muslims will experience the beauty of Ramadan one day./QUOTE
Ramadan mubarak to you as well

But no thanks - I want nothing to do with islam, mohamad, ramadan… etc…

And like I mentioned before ~ you should introduce yourself ~

… Ramadan Kareem ~ Ramadan Mubark ~ to you & the rest of our muslim posters…

lol it’s only an extra week plus you can drink water during lent

wasalam

Oh no! Not WATER! You’re right…that’s much worse than cramming yourself with food to break the fast once the sun goes down…much, much worse.

i don’t get your sarcasm?

Zaki…
That’s because u’re too emotional dealing with people here, u get lost of the track. U said that the Catholics drink during the lent. Is drinking water considered worse to u then cramming urself with food after the sun goes down done by muslims?

🙂

Yeah…that’s because u’re now have reasons to spend even more during this months for food. I could say that ramadhan is season of food fiesta!

Waitaminute! Did Muhammad only utter the revelation he claimed he got from Gibrael during the ramadhan? What about the time when he needed permission from God to marry Zainab and Aisha?

OK…it seems that those Muslims were indeed focusing their time for food and for entertainment…no wonder it feels too short for u…And those good program u mentioned, is it about how to be good when dealing with other people or is it about how good u feel that
u fast during the day to get ur sin washed away and other people are bad, because u think that they don’t perform fast?
I wish all the Muslims Ramadan Mubarak, and I hope that non-Muslims will experience the beauty of Ramadan one day
Ah how come u wish such…I live in a country where muslims are the majority, I find myself being ridiculed and pushed to hide myself somewhere to avoid eating in front of them. It seems Muslims want other people to help them to survive the fasting…Really, what kind of “merit” would u get if u push other people to help u fasting? And why do u need all the respect from other people that u sacrifice ur meal, when this is actually done for the sake of u getting “discount” for ur own sin?

I have no doubt that this is a true spirit in fasting. Muslims fasting is admirable as we also believe in the power of fasting and prayers.

You may be puzzled why you get strange reaction from Christians’ posters here on a subject that is being honored by everybody. I have highlighted a part of your post above. You seemed to gloat and boast on the fact that you ARE FASTING. In a multi-religious board like this that kind of post seems childish and inconsiderate to what other people do.

Having said that, in most predominantly Muslim countries I know that fasting during Ramadan is being enforced by police that make it a crime for Muslims caught eating in public places. This, I think, takes the sail out from the virtue of your fast. There is no quality in things that are being forced upon.

I think in SA it 's around 15 hours as u mentioned, in Indonesia is about 14,5 hours. But let’s assume in a place where the sun set only for 2 hours, or even never set, or in the place contrary to it?
Just curious: What do Muslims in Alaska and other such areas do where there is 6 months of sunlight and 6 of darkness?
There are two fatwas regarding that, one by our Saudi cleric who said that the person has to fast even if the day got long or short, but if he/she is afraid of sickness or death because of that fasting then he/she can break his/her fasting and later fast another day when the day gets shorter.

Another Egyptian cleric said Muslims in such countries can fast according to their home countries timing or Mecca timing.
How the Muslims should behave towards people who don’t perform fast during this season? Do the non-Muslim should avoid eating near them?
In SA non-Muslims are prohibited from eating publicly infront of Muslims, even all restaurants and coffee shops close during daytime.

There are tens of Islamic channels out there, and yes some Muslims watch those channels during the daytime but after Iftar they start watching the other 500 Arabic channels which are loaded with new TV shows.
If Muslims want to change that habit, then the fruit of Muhammed should stop producing new shows during that month and stop from publishing massive amount of ads in the newspaper regarding them.
