BADEN-WURTENBERG, Germany, January 3, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A German state is targeting potential Muslim immigrants with a test to determine their “loyalty” to German social policy on homosexuality, among other issues.

The southern state of Baden-Wurttemberg now requires all Muslims requesting citizenship to undergo an extensive test designed to reveal their views on such issues as gay rights, women’s equality, topless beaches, and the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 against the United States.

It seems odd that Muslim immigrants would be singled out for these questions. If the topics are important to living in Germany, wouldn’t it make sense to ask all immigrants the questions?

I believe it may be because of their view of homosexuality. In some islamic countries, you are executed for being homosexual.

At the present time no. But the German may think that the chances will increase with a growing Muslim population.

Disturbing this is. There was a prophecy which stated that Europe would be punished by Muslim invasion. Look at the large immigration numbers coming over to Europe and to make matters worse they are disciminated against in Germany and France. Which will only worsen the violence already committed.

Now, now… despite the title of this thread (Lifesite sometimes give its titles editorial spin which isn’t really supported by the article) the battery of questions is not about accepting homosexuality so much as preventing violence.
The state interior ministry said the test would be used to filter out Muslims who were unsuited for life in Germany. Those who answered “correctly” but later acted against expected behaviour, such as wife-beating, could have their citizenship removed.

Brigitte Lösch, a leading member of the Green party in the Baden-Wurttemberg parliament, called for the oral exam to be dropped, arguing that it inferred from the outset that all Muslims were “violent per se” and unable to abide by German law.

I think there is a wide margin between acceptance of homosexuality and beating gays up - surely the questions look for tolerance, an ability to peacefully co-exist. I am sure that you and the other readers of this forum who do not accept homosexuality do not feel a need to physically punish homosexuals. But you do tolerate them.

But there is so much discrimination in the US, particularly at airports, yet somehow this is justified? There have been British citizens detained with bags searched, receiving ridiculous treatment because of their religion or appearance, no phone calls etc.

Is the issue that annoys people here the matter of singling out one group, or the relation to homosexuality? As the US isn’t without it’s prejudices.
