Greetings,
Went to confession today where I usually go, but to a priest I had never encountered before. I confessed and the priest went straight to giving me a penance, I said an act of contrition and the priest absolved me. Not like the line was long or anything, so it wasn’t being done for effeciency’s sake. So I’m just wondering if it is a requirement for priest to give a short piece of advice or spritual guidance during confession?
