I am wondering if the Church has a preference for the priest facing the people at mass?
Is it permitted to celebrate mass Ad Orientem? I always thought there was more significance and theological basis for The priest and the people facing the same direction at mass and I would love to do this for my wedding mass which is in October. I also want to know what the church says about this issue though?

Officially the Church permits both forms of celebrating the Mass of Paul VI. The Roman Missal explicitly mentions the times that the priest is to say certain parts “facing the people” which would be irrelevant/redundant unless he might not be always facing the people. The Church has not issued a norm for either way of saying the Mass of Paul VI and therefore both options are equally valid.
