I finished reading this book last night, and my life has drastically changed.

If you have ever had questions about Mary, if you seek to have a devotion to her, to love her, to pray to her, to better meditate on the mysteries of the Rosary and on Christ’s life, this book will give you everything.

The writer, Raphael Brown, draws from transcripts of four Catholic mystic saints who were blessed to hear from Mary herself or from Christ intimate details about Mary’s life.

The book is written in narrative format, and it’s crystallized for me everything I’ve ever wondered about in reading Scripture.

She was so incredibly humble as a child that she prayed she might be able to serve the Mother of the Messiah, never once thinking she could be that mother; she experienced incredible ecstatic and mystical prayer during her childhood, until the time of her death; during her life, she commanded many angels, and was graced with the understanding of all divine mysteries; she was the first to receive Holy Communion (Christ gave her Communion by mystical power during the Last Supper); by the time she died, she slept thirty minutes a night, spending the remainder of her time in prayer; God graced her with the unique ability to both pursue an active life and contemplate all His mysteries at the same time; God allowed her to choose to ascend into Heaven with Christ or to spend the next years building up the Church; she guided the apostles in writing the creed and in compiling Scripture; etc.

It’s amazing. It’s amazing.

For the first time ever, I felt as if I could understand Mary as a person: someone so like us in her humanity, with the exception of sin.

I can’t recommend it enough.

You definitely should read the City of God by Ven. Mary of Agreda - the 4 volume non-abridged version. It is so awesome!

God allowed her to choose to ascend into Heaven with Christ or to spend the next years building up the Church;
Actually, in Ven. Mary of Agreda’s *City of God *we read that Mary did ascend into Heaven with Christ, but she was given the choice of remaining up there or spending the next years of her life building up the Church.

Hi Safia,

Where did this information come from?

Yes, that’s true. What I meant is permanently (aka, “to remain ascended in Heaven”).
