~{Matt.13:24}~
24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying,
The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
25 But while men slept, his enemy came
and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying,
The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed,
which a man took, and sowed in his field:
32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown,
it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree,
so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying,
Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side,
and the fowls came and devoured them up:
18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom,
and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one,
and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart.
This is he which received seed by the way side.

I have to say, buzz, welcome to the forums, but when you string together several scripture verses like this without any explication, it does absolutely nothing for me and is useless in generating an apologetic response since I have no idea what your premise or question is. Other than the fact that, as a novice birder, I am well acquainted with the habits of clean and unclearn birds. Just watched a hawk in action yesterday trying to pick up a rabbit. Final score rabbit 1, hawk 0

Matthew 13:31-33. The point of these two parables is rather simple. The kingdom of heaven will start small (with just Jesus and his Twelve Apostles) but, by the grace of God, it will eventually fill the whole earth.

31Another parable he put before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his field; 32it is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”
33He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.”

In the first parable, the small mustard seed grows into a shrub so large that birds can come and nest in its branches. The part about the birds is only indicative of the large size of the shrub and nothing more. Remember, this is called a parable, not a prophesy.

In the second parable, a small bit of leaven kneeded into the loaf make the whole loaf rise. Although leaven often symbolizes something bad (as in Matt 16:6, “beware of the leaven of the Pharisees”), in this case leaven is simply leaven, a little something good that eventually will have widespread good results. Again, this is called a parable, not a prophesy.

Buzzard Can you tell me what Bible you took this from ?

Sometimes birds are just birds. This parable is about the spread of the kingdom of heaven on earth, i.e., the Church. From a small beginning (12 Apostles in Jerusalem), it would eventually spread to all the world. The part about the birds is only indicative of how large of a shrub the tiny mustard grows into. Remember, this is a parable not a prophesy.

Mr. Buzzard,
You have proven that you can type, and thats about all. This is the Apologetics Topic. You may get some kind of answer…IF…

YOU ASK A QUESTION. No question …no answer.

given the tenor of these verses you are throwing at us, I am a little troubled by your screenname. be that as it may, are you going somewhere with this? do you want to give us a CLUE?

Let me restate Exporter’s most succinct reply.

I thought the name meant that the “buzzard” is hovering over the rotting corpse of the Whore of Babylon. Maybe I am too harsh.

Buzzard;

Are you suggesting that the verses you’ve plucked from Scripture prove the Catholic Church is filled with “birds” of deceit?

If that is your point, then I must agree with the other posters’ concerns with regard to your chosen screen name.

I’ve seen other threads he’s started, and it’s pretty much in the same vein: Scripture quotes strung together along with veiled allegations about the Catholic Church being the Whore of Babylon or otherwise false.

Seeing as this thread is serving no good purpose outside of the exposition random verses of Holy Scripture, it is being closed.
