Hi all,

Since beginning my Inquiry stage back in October, this will mark my first Lent season. I am planning on attending a Lent Mass tomorrow evening, and giving up meat (oh and my local grocery store just put ribeye steaks on sale for the entire week!), and praying more.

Any suggestions for Lent Prayers? I don’t know that many official prayers yet besides Our Father and Hail Mary(which I say allot now, even when at work today when a co-worker witnessed a suicide Downtown San Francisco this afternoon).

Also, any thoughts on Lent, or websites I could learn a little more about the season would be great.

Thanks, and God bless.

It’s my first Lent season as well. One thing I’m planning to do is to teach myself to pray the rosary. I just bought some beads today and a pamphlet on how to do the prayers.

My first lent as well. I started a 54-day rosary Novena to our lady for the conversion of sinners, especially priests, atheists, and those who are lukewarm in their faith. At the end of it and starting on Good Friday I’ll start the Divine Mercy novena.

I love the prayers! If you don’t know the prayers, learn the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet! The chaplet only takes 5-10 minutes, depending on how fast you say it, and it especially helpful after you have sinned, to realize just how merciful the Lord is, and that He sent his only Son to sacrifice Himself for you, and he wouldn’t have done that if He was going to abandon you. Just my 2 cents.

Also, I’m giving up fast food (except subway) and 20 minutes a day to reading the Bible for Lent! Haven’t even read all of the New Testament yet, I figure now it’s time.

Have a contemplative and meaningful Lent, everyone. God Bless
