Having done some sharing about my faith with my Asian friends, they have now asked me to get them some books to read about Jesus. Does any one know of some good book for adults who have no clue about Jesus. I intend to get them a copy of the bible each but that may seem to big for them to consume. Please help. Any advice or pointers will be appreciated. Thanks for your help.

May I ask…
What religion are your friends?
Or are they atheists?
And from what part of Asia (it’s a big place), or, more specifically, which countries?

Please know that you and your friends will be in my prayers.

Thanks Sebastian,

My friends don’t profess any religion. However I think they are more agnostic than atheists as they can’t say for sure that there is not God-infact they seem to be convinced of a superior power though they are not sure of the form.

Two come from Vietnam and one is from Malaysian (a Chinese-Malaysian). The malaysian does not eat beef so the family probably has a background in Hinduism.

Thanks a lot for your prayers, the power of which , I can never underestimate. Thanks and God bless

Starting off with the Bible might be too confusing; you could try “Catholicism for Dummies” by Father Trigilio and Father Brighenti they do a good job explaining the basics.

Hmm… I don’t know too much about the culture in those parts of Asia; sorry!
However, I would still like to recommend a book. The Fathers by Pope Benedict XVI is a book I found helpful. It does not specifically talk about Jesus or many Catholic doctrines but I highly recommend this book is because it talks about the early Church Fathers and gives some of the teachings a new light. I think perhaps your friends who are agnostic might recieve a book that is philosophical in nature better than one that is heavy on doctrine. But those are just my two cents.
I hope that your journey will be fruitful.

They might like some books about a saint, or the Escriva books full of short, useful maxims.
