Hello all,

God bless you all.

I am posting to let you all know that I’ve started my very own blog. I wanted to disseminate many of the ideas that I have swirling around in my head, and wanted to add one more small voice in the service of Christ and the Gospel.

I will try to blog at least weekly.

Also, I read the forum rules and it doesn’t seem that posting about my blog is prohibited; however, if I’ve misinterpreted the rules regarding this I apologize in advance.

As a Catholic, what credentials do you have, that would make you believe you have the authority to preach? Just glancing at
your blog, I question some of your theology as being sound. I’m not saying it is, but raising a concern.

Hi Jim,

The only credentials I have is faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and in the fact that the Catholic Church is the one True Church of God. Unless I am mistaken, I am not certain that one needs to have any authority conferred to him or her to expound on the Gospel. I am not conferring sacraments…

As I mentioned in the initial post, I wanted to disseminate the many ideas that swirl around in my head. I don’t believe that anything I wrote is contrary to Church teaching (if so, please point it out so that I may re-examine my stance!)

I am passionate about the topic, that topic being membership in the Church Militant and battling the devil by battling the World and its culture of death, and by really giving him a walloping by with random, daily and multiple acts of charity and love in Christ’s name (didn’t get to that part yet in the blog!)

Here is some of my thoughts, my opinions, and you are free to contradict them:

We’ll first speak of the Whore.

The Whore is Revelation’s “Whore of Babylon”, and this Whore is the World itself - this sex-without-consequence, kill-the-elderly-and-infirm, dispose-of-the-unborn, it’s-all-about-me, if-it-feels-good-do-it, let-them-eat-cake, step-over-the-homeless-guy-in-the-gutter, live-for-the-now, everything-is-relative, he-who-dies-with-the-most-wins World.

Enemies of the Catholic faith have sometimes asserted that the Whore is in fact the Catholic Church, arguing that the seven hills on which the Whore sits refer to Rome, and therefore the Vatican. This is rubbish. Consider that the world HAS SEVEN CONTINENTS…could the seven hills represent the seven continents of this world? Food for thought…

The Whore of Babylon cannot be the world, because in Revelation we read that the nations (the world) have gotten drunk on her wine and have slept with her. The Whore who sits on the Beast is an apocolyptic symbol for lawlessness, the woman of wickeness as described to Zechariah. This goes hand in hand with the marital imagery of the Bible, where Israel is described as the Lord’s bride and the pagan nations as bridgegrooms, and pagan gods are called whores or prostitutes. When Israel turns to false gods, God accuses her of adultery; when the pagan nations turn to the Whore of Bablyon, it is said they sleep with the great prostitute, getting drunk on her wine (lawlessness) in their passion and lust. The Whore of Babylon, for the early Christians, symbolizes the lawlessness and idoltry of Rome, and, for us Christians today, it would symbolize the lawlessness and idoltry of the modern world, and, for the time of the antichrist, it would symbolize the lawlessness and persecution of the antichrist against the Church of Christ.

Satan is also the Revelation’s Anti-Christ…the antithesis of Christ. Christ sowed peace; the Anti-Christ (Satan) sows hatred. Christ came to save us; the Anti-Christ (Satan) seeks to doom us. Christ is the spouse of the Church; the Anti-Christ (Satan) is the spouse of this world

You should have a background in Catholic Theology, to teach the subject you’re presenting.

Sharing the Gospel is different than sharing your interpretation of Scripture, which only the Church has authority to do. It gets especially dangerous, when you’re using the Book of Revelation.

As I stated, I just took a glance, but ideas presented in a format as you’re doing, with also asking for donations, suggest that you’re presenting proper theology according to the Catholic Church.

I am passionate about the topic, that topic being membership in the Church Militant and battling the devil by battling the World and its culture of death, and by really giving him a walloping by with random, daily and multiple acts of charity and love in Christ’s name (didn’t get to that part yet in the blog!) ;

I appreciate your zeal, but I think you need to take a step back and understand you’re limitations on theological issues.

Hello back!!!

When I wrote of the world - and perhaps I should have been more clear - I was really talking about modern society. The PHYSICAL WORLD, i.e., the globe of the Earth, is good - it was created by God.

The nations of the earth are drunk with “her wine” - sin, debauchery, lawlessness, apostasy, etc. Society - engaged in those things - either is the Whore, or sleeps with the Whore - turning from it’s chief relationship with Christ. This modern society is atop the globe of the Earth - with 7 continents.
