My brother died on Sunday, August 10, 2014. Just a week prior, on the feast day of St. Alphonsus Liguori (August 1 or 2, depending on the Liturgical calendar you use), he wrote a letter which he intended for all the Catholics in his area to read or hear from their respective Priests. At least 2 Priests in that area used it in a sermon.

I believe the things he wrote are universal, at least for a large part of the Church, so I have picked up his torch, and I am passing it on to as many Catholics as I can. I invite anyone who feels called to use this, share it with friends, family, Church groups, Catechism classes, etc… Though it’s being hosted on my blog, I extend the same freedom he did regarding use, publication, necessary edits to make it fit unique circumstances, etc…

This is my brother’s death-bed letter:

Your brother was very wise, and very correct. God rest his soul!

May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace,
Amen.

Thank you for the link.
I’m sending it to all my Catholic friends.

Awesome, well needed and hopefully heeded. I will pray for the repose of his soul

Beautiful sentiments, beautifully expressed. God bless him for doing such a wonderful thing.

Your brother’s letter is insightful and moving, and his knowledge of and passion for history is uplifting. Thank you for sharing it with us. I’m going to hold on to the bit about Pope Clement, which I had not come across before.

That’s amazing, thank you for sharing it. I hope your brother may be granted eternal rest, and may the perpetual light shine upon him; may he rest in peace.

God bless.

Touching and useful for someone with a poor memory like me. May God have mercy on his soul.
