Congratulations! 😃 My first confession was a few weeks ago now (I’ll be received into the Church at the Easter Vigil myself) but I still remember how it felt - a peace I’ve never experienced before in my life. Less than a week to go! Its funny, you wait months for it to arrive and when it gets near you want more time to prepare (at least I do, anyway. :o )

Congratulations, Ben. šŸ™‚

I’m going to wait a while, but already I’m looking forward to the next confession.

I feel… ecstatic, joyful, peaceful… One of the truly wonderful experiences of my life.

Wow. It was painless. He led me through it and I told him that I’ve done a lot of bad things and him and God and Jesus I was sorry and he had me read something and then granted me absolution.

I left feeling like a gigantic load had been taken off my shoulders.

I can’t wait to go again. Maybe in a month.
I’m glad it went well! And welcome to the Church, by the way.šŸ™‚

Its a great feeling afterward too George. It feels like all is right with the Lord and you.

I love going to Confession. Its like getting read of all the trash that I carry around with me on a daily basis. I love one Priest in particular at my Parish. He makes me look at Why I commit the sins I do. It is a great relief when Iam finished. I used to confess my sins to God, before I became Catholic, never seemed to work. It is very humbling to go before another human being, especially a Priest to confess are wrongs. I fell as light as a feather when Iam done. And a lot closer to God.

Welcome to all entering the Catholic faith this Saturday night at the Easter vigil.

I usually go to confession once a month per my assoicate pastor (he used to be at a parish half an hour away but was transferred to a parish ten minutes away last July). He alternates between two parishes, but if he isn’t at my parish the first Saturday of the month, or as in the case yesterday I couldn’t be back from a previous engagement in time for confession, then I wait until the next Saturday he is at my parish. Even though I seem to be confess the same sins my assoc pastor is very understanding and forgiving.

Welcome to all you who are coming into full communion Saturday night! I am so happy for you and know that you will be entering into a lifetime journey with many surprises and a lot of growth! Our Lord is awesome!

The sacrament of repentence is scary but it is actually one of my favorites. It is such a blessing to be in the presence of the Lord.

Glad to hear it went well. My first confession is tonight and I’m a little apprehensive about it. Reading about your experience (and the experiences of some of the other posters), has given me comfort. Hopefully, I’ll be able to take a deep breath and let it go (as someone suggested).

Can’t wait for Saturday!

God Bless,

-brian

I was lucky to have a priest who’d done this before and hand-held me through the process. Believe me, you’ll probably remember one or two things you wanted to say. Get them next time.

I gave him a couple of specifics and a couple of general things I wanted to confess, I read something, and he gave me absolution.

You’ll get a wonderful feeling of relief.

It’s funny you mention remembering after the fact that you wanted to say something, because I said to my wife that I was worried about forgetting some sins and she said ā€œYou know, this isn’t your only confession. It’s just your first.ā€ šŸ™‚
