Went to one today. It was beautiful to say the least. I was expecting the use of incense, I guess that only comes with the High Mass. I am a convert from Eastern Orthodox, so incense is always a good thing for me. It was hard for me to keep up, but I generally knew what was going on. It kind of surprised me, even frightened me, when the priest started wispering at the consecration. Overall, I think it is certainly more solem that the current mass, althought they do the same things. What are your thoughts?

I am very glad you were able to witness, in my opinion, the most beautiful thing this side of heaven…I love the Latin Mass and fortuneatly I am able to experience it every Sunday. I do believe it is more solemn and reverant…I love when the priest bows over the Host and the Chalice as he says the words of consecration…it gives me chills.

I love the Latin Mass. I just there were more Latin masses so more people could also experience it.

It is the most beautiful thing this side of heaven and I am lucky enough to serve the alter their every sunday. Witnessing a consevration upclose with that kind of service makes you want to jump up and day exclaiming, “Gloria in excelcis Deo!”

True, the entire Roman Canon is prayed by the priest in silence, he barely wispers all of the words and only raises his voice when he prays “Nobis quoque peccatoribus…”" Also, incense is used at the sung mass or solemn mass with deacon and sub-deacon. No incense is used at the low mass.

I went to my first Latin mass at the Feast of the Assumption. It was awesome! At my parish, we sing the Latin verses for the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (only a very few though).

It was very tough to keep up during the Assumption Mass though, the teens next to me knew it all by heart, but of course it was their home church.

That parish also has a Gregorian mass that I would like to participate in as well. Has anyone been to one of those? What is it like?

Beautiful. The asethetical quality of the Tridentine Liturgy is something otherworldly.

The Tridentine Latin Mass is beautiful and very spiritual. :amen:
