Today I attended Mass for the first time and found it to be a beautiful experience.

I was nervous, despite the fact I had emailed the parish priest but as soon as I arrived I was made welcome. I met 4 of my neighbours in the carpark - we live opposite each other and they were surprised to see me but made me very welcome. I sat on my own, but next Sunday they have invited me to sit with them and even invited me for a cup of tea later in the week.

After the Mass we spoke for a while and I was introduced to Canon Bernard who made me very welcome and he had put together a couple of booklets and a church newsletter for me to take away and read. He told me that there is a course starting in a couple of weeks, similar to the RCIA and I will be attending. My neighbours and the congregation made me very welcome - it felt like I had come home.

Welcome home! I’m so glad your first Mass was such a pleasant experience! 😃

Welcome home! I’m so glad that it went well and that you’ve already found people who’ll help you integrate into the parish.

God has obviously helped you to get to Mass just before that course starts, so that’s a wonderful sign for you. I’ll keep praying for you and I’ve sent you a message on the email system.

God bless!

Your story reminds me so much of my return home! I hope your journey is as mine is!

What a great way to get started, keep us posted on your journey. God bless you.

Welcome to the Church! It’s rather fitting that you have come home in this Year of Faith which we have entered.

And you have reminded my to pray for a priest of the same name in my diocese who I’m told has a new appointment.

God Bless you on your journey.

That’s wonderful! It does feel like coming home doesn’t it? We are in RCIA right now so I know how you feel. And the parish we attend we were made to feel very welcome also.

Welcome! I am a recent convert (last February) and love being Catholic!
Blessings to you on this journey!

Awesome! So glad to hear of your experience. I attended my first Mass this week, and I can honestly say it awed me. Granted, I was irked by a crying baby and people coming in late, but it was still great. And hey, at least the late people got there for God! Even if we’re late to the party, God won’t turn us away. (And I should know, 'cause I’m 19 years late. Ah… to be a cradle Catholic… If only.)

The whole atmosphere, in spite of disruption at times, was crazy worshipful. You stand up, you sit down, you kneel, and you respond to God. You participate. God demands all your senses, whether it’s with the voice in prayer, the stained glass in the church, or the smell of incense during Mass.

And what can I say when every knee bent for the Sacrifice, when the priest lifted the offerings up, presented us with the Body and Blood of our Lord and Lamb, Jesus? I knew it right then and there. “This is worship. Come home. I love you, and I want you to have that love.”

God is so amazing, isn’t he?
