My girlfriend just found out she's likely infertile

I’m so sorry. :console: I’m glad you’ve been able to accept this cross so well you’re far better than I. 😊 I’m proof of finding a husband who will accept all this. My husband knew I was physically and mentally ill before he married me. We both also knew that we might have quite a bit of trouble conceiving and/or carrying children to term. We were both open to adoption before we married. We’re just trying to make that dream come true now, in addition to remaining open to life and the possibilities of any miracles God may wish to give us. 😃
I’ll be praying that you’ll be able to adopt soon! It’s funny, because once I found out I couldn’t have kids, I was watching my nieces and nephews. And they were monsters! After that, I was thankful I couldn’t have kids.
But the career I’m going into requires a ton of time and emotiuonal investment. Most special education teachers tell me not to even bother having kids, because they will burn you out very quickly. So adoption is out.

Excuse me. If a woman has real infertility issues then learning how to use NFP usually won’t help.
Just a thought when I saw that many of you guys said “NFP” I have been targeting ovulation for more than two years and nothing happens because we have real biological fertility problems!
Best wishes
Amber

Sometimes learning and using NFP and changing habits - nutrition, sleep, etc., can allow a marginally infertile couple to achieve a pregnancy. Plus, charting is a window to some fertility issues.

Why does your friend need anything from you? I’m not trying to be snarky but why not encourage her to appreciate her blessings? Many many people have not even half of the blessings that both you and she have. 😦 You obviously have never been in the position of real hardship in life or this would be barely a blink of an eye as far as hardships go.

I’ve had my fair share of hardships. In fact I’ve had more than my fair share and I know what pain is from a very young age. This is another topic entirely, and many on CAF have heard my painful story before.

Perhaps you have been hardened by your life’s pain, but once you get over the pain, you are able to draw on that strength to really love and appreciate other people, pray for them and only want what’s best for them - including another baby if that’s what they really want. …only because you love them.

Convert99 is someone that I totally admire (she has posted on this thread). She carries her cross like a saint. Follow her posts and witness the love that she passes onto other people. Her messages are always full of love, compassion and kindness. I see her as a woman above women. She may not be able to create her own child, but she has helped many children of God return to their faith just because they witness her own faith and journey of kindness.

Convert99 is an excellent example of some who is experiencing hardship and never turns a blink of an eye to other people’s hardships.

I pray all the time that she adopt a child; I would never blink an eye to her hardships even though I have had more than my fair share in my own life.

Nope, I’m not a saint. And I probably have a problem with envy. I have very little in life right now, so I am working hard on being grateful that I can afford food and heat. 😦

Nope, I’m not a saint. I have plenty of princess friends who don’t know my situation, so when I hear stuff like this, it just comes across as ungrateful brattiness. I really wish someone could walk in my shoes. Oh, wait, I need my shoes, I can’t afford any and I haven’t bought any in a year. I’m just at the point of thanking God I can afford food and heat. That’s pretty much all I have right now. Forget trying to have normal things like husbands, babies, cars, health insurance, and hair cuts. All my time is taken up with trying to just get by.
I am so sorry to hear this. :console: I can’t imagine what you are going through. I do understand though what you are saying. What you experience when you see others complain, I also experience for other reasons. I know it may seem like I’m being a brat, and I probably am. But we all have our crosses. I have never lacked for any basic necessity of life. And I cannot thank God enough for this. But I HAVE had to be dependent upon another human being all my life so if I wasn’t blessed with a family and now a husband, I wouldn’t have been here. I’m too sick to make things work out on my own. Plus I’ve had other crosses to carry that many people in third world countries haven’t gone through, like infertility. It’s just what we are given by God to carry. I don’t carry my crosses well, but I do try to realize that it could be much worse. I hope an pray that things start looking up for you. If there is anything I can do besides pray, please let me know. :gopray: :hug3:

Don’t worry I struggle a LOT with envy and I have far less on my plate than you. :console: Please don’t be too hard on yourself. Bring all this to the heart of Jesus in confession. He will help you through it. I am so thankful you have food and heat. I saw one person on these forums that couldn’t even turn their heat on this year! 😦 God love you dear and I hope and pray things look up soon. God will get you through this. :hug3:

Thanks convert! I edited my original post, but I see you snagged it. I sound terrible, don’t I? 😃 I know I do. Thank you for your kind words. But if anything, my recent experiences have made me very humble. I really am grateful for the least little thing these days. God has always manage to provide “just enough” for me. 🙂

Thank you so very much for the prayers, they are so very much appreciated. I remember praying for your blessing to arrive, and now he/she is almost ready to be born! :bounce:

No you don’t sound terrible, you sound like you are suffering through a great deal and you are! :console: These experiences do humble you don’t they. I know right now I’ve never been more grateful for the gift of being able to walk than I am right now. Hopefully I’ll get that blessing back soon, but even if I don’t, I will be so thankful for all the steps I got to take, ya know? God always provides what we need. I couldn’t do ANYthing without Him!

OK…you just made me cry!!! Thanks so much!

Seeking Wisdom - I hope things get better for you too! I will pray for you and hope that things improve for you.

You are not selfish for wanting things in your life that will bring you happiness and fulfillment. Keep praying and don’t give up on God. He will bring you happiness whether it being in the form of just being content for what you do have and the strength to carry your crosses.
