So, you know how you sometimes are browsing the internet, and you stumble on something, and from there something else, and so on? And pretty soon, you don’t know how you got there. That happened to me tonight, and it made my heart and soul just…ill.

I won’t share the sites, but some of the propaganda that is put out by ‘fellow Christians’, who are against, and apparently, detest/hate the Catholic faith and her people, is just so sad.

I understand that if you belong to anything, from as simple as a social group, to as something of the highest importance, Faith and Religion, you should believe in it. And I understand the need to ‘compare’ differences in beliefs.

However, WHY do other ‘Christians’, followers of Christ, have to hate on my Faith? Can your religion not stand on its own merit, that you must tell LIES (which are easily disproven)? I get questions from members of other faiths; I tell them what we/I believe, and why. I don’t tell them they are going to h*ll if they don’t agree with me. I don’t tell them everything that is wrong with their religion, even though I believe Catholicism is the true Faith, and is where the Lord TOLD ME He wanted me to be. I won’t tell YOU what to believe. But don’t LIE about Christ, Scripture and Catholicism, when you KNOW the answers!! I believe that many of those anti-Catholic sites KNOW the Truth about us, yet purposely lie about it.

How is that Christian? How is that following in His Way? How is that sharing His Love?

I don’t condemn other Christian religions, even as I believe ours is the Truth. I can even understand how non-Christian religions might believe the way that they do, and even as I believe that they are 100% wrong, or 50% wrong, I’m not here to judge, as long as I share Him and His Love for us. Filling people with hatred or anger about their own beliefs is not a foundation to build a church upon. The people in His Church are not perfect, nor are the people of other faiths.

Tolerance. Love. Peace. Understanding. Compassion.

Sorry, I’m kinda jumping around; I’m still in shock over some of the animosity and lies I encountered.
May God Bless them and show them the way, and turn their hearts to loving thy neighbor, and perhaps, becoming Catholic.

Here’s the heart of the matter. To condemn is to judge harshly. To condemn someone’s belief is not the same thing as being uncharitable. You can condemn someone’s belief in something and do so in a loving manner. I would even go so far as to say that (depending on the circumstance) that we have a duty as Christians to condemn non-Christian ideals.

Please note also that if you say someone is 50% or 100% wrong about something you are indeed making a judgement. Perhaps what is meant is that you do not judge the person, but instead his/her ideology. Judgement of the person is for God alone. However, we can certainly judge people’s actions…even harshly (condemn) depending on what it is that is being judged.

That’s a great article, thanks for the link. His words sound so modern.

OP, I don’t think there is much we can do about such crazy stories. People have been telling them from the beginning and they will continue doing so forever. If you can discuss the faith with a person who has a sane mind, then do so. But stay away from crazy stuff. Leave such websites when you stumble upon them.

I once opened a website that claimed that the Mass and the Eucharist were pure witchcraft. They way the author ‘discussed’ it seemed like screaming. I was in disbelief, wondered if the site was a joke or something. It wasn’t.

Say a prayer for them and all those people who will believe their lies.

On “churchmilitant.tv” website, Michael Voris has stated that even if an ideology is 99% right, it is still wrong. (Churchmilitant.tv, in case you have never heard of it is a Catholic website that has some excellent teachings on the Faith)👍

say again?
Anything non- Catholic religions have that is “correct” has been hijacked from the Catholic faith. Unfortunately they take it and mix it with error so even a little error is still error? Only the Catholic faith that the Son of God introduced is the genuine article.🙂 Sorry for any confusion.

Yes, but whether that 1% difference requires an outright condemnation as opposed to merely stating that 1% is wrong is what needs to be discerned.

As far as the OP is concerned, are what the web sites he/she visited expressing their views in a hateful manner (uncharitable) or are they condemning what they do not understand but doing so without the hateful rhetoric.

If someone comes up to me and informs me that I am doomed to hell because I am a Catholic, that doesn’t necessarily mean the person is being uncharitable towards me. In fact, they may very well have my eternal soul in mind trying to pry me away from my (according to them) fatal error.

My wife visited a Baptist church in our area (because it is attended by our son, his wife and his daughter) She responded to the “altar call” just to see what they would do or say. A woman knelt beside her and started asking her questions. One question was about my religious faith. When my wife responded “Catholic” the woman replied “He’s going to hell for sure!” 🤷

The ones I encountered were hateful rhetoric, based upon untruths. The lies are ones that are easily disproven, even by a child.
