My husband desires no closeness

If I try to talk to him about it he says he doesn’t want us to get pregnant, he won’t do it without contraceptives, or picks a fight, or all of the above. He knows I won’t use contraception. I know about NFP, he won’t use it because it’s not 100%.

So at least part of the problem is fear of pregnancy. Does your husband understand that no contraceptive is 100% even if used correctly? Trust me, I have one pill baby and one condom baby. Have you thought about going together to speak with a Catholic doctor who is familiar with NFP?

Excuse me for being blunt but that sounds like an excuse. I refer you back to my previous comment. You might also consider seeing an attorney(for advice should the nuclear option be needed).

I wish I could respond to you all individually and thank you so much for all of the prayers we can both use them! He has a complete physical for work every couple of years, and yes I have thought about infidelity.

Phil- we dated two years, he proposed late one night after I got off work, engagement was prepping for marriage and getting ready for the wedding.

MJJ- our special needs child is the oldest.

If my husband had doubts about getting married he never expressed it to me, and if he did to anyone else they didn’t tell me either.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond, it is appreciated.

God bless!

TrueBlue,

I could not find in this thread anything about the issue as your husband sees it. I assume you have spoken with him about your relationship and asked him about his feelings, how difficulties can be overcome, etc. How long do these discussions last, and what does he say? You also mentioned you did attend some counselling - what did he express during those sessions?

As to his statement that he rejects marital relations for fear of pregnancy, there would be little doubt that one day per cycle could be chosen (very reliably) where the probability of pregnancy is next to nil. * You know that - he surely knows that - so how is it that the conversation simply end with that lame excuse he gave you?

The situation would seem to be quite serious, and I wonder whether you need to be rather more **insistent *on having a meaningful discussion with him?
