My first pastor passed away yesterday. He was 88. He had served as a priest for 62 years and before his retirement last June was Tucson’s oldest active priest. He was greatly loved by our parish. I’m going to miss him.

Well done faithful servant.

Eternal rest grant unto your good servant, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace.
Amen.

I’ll be happy to add him to my prayer list for deceased priests.

Rest in Peace, Msgr. Fuller.
Our new pastor reminded us yesterday that Fr. Fuller never liked being called Monsignor. 🙂 That didn’t prevent him from calling him Monsignor a bunch of times during his homily.

Word is that when Father passed away he was at peace, lucid and ready.

Of course I didn’t know him, but he sounds like one of those special priests who radiate goodness in an exceptional way. And he had a SoCal connection too, being ordained from St. John’s Seminary here 👍

Go to his funeral, if you can- their funerals are always amazing… most of the priests of the Diocese, the current Bishop, and any retired bishops usually attend… so beautiful

I wasn’t planning on attending the funeral because it’s next Friday and Fridays are really hard for me to get off of work because it’s just me and my boss on staff, but my wife called me to let me know that I’ve been invited to be one of three altar servers. The funeral mass will be at the cathedral, and our bishop emeritus is presiding. I’m so excited. It’s like a dream come true. I served a lot of masses with Fr. Fuller. It would be such an honor to send him off this way.

I did serve at Father’s funeral mass today. I got to be the cross bearer. It was such a privilege and very fascinating to see the workings behind-the-scene at the cathedral. Both our old and our new bishop was there as well as about 30 priests. To be able to hang out on the sidelines and be part of this amazing liturgy will be something I won’t forget.
