My prayer after Compline

Yesterday, at Church, I picked up a small card titled “Prayer For A Little Boy”.

Now I lay me down to sleep.
I pray thee, Lord, my soul to keep.
Thy Angels guard me through the night,
And keep me safe 'til morning light.

Angel of God, my guardian dear;
To whom His Love commits me here;
Ever this night be at my side,
To light and guard, to rule and guide.

This will be my final prayer, coming after Compline.

I used to pray that prayer every night when we were kid…a LONG time ago.

I used to pray that prayer every night when we were kid…a LONG time ago.

Same here. But age 63, I am well into my 2nd (or 3rd?) childhood, so this prayer has become more meaningful to me, and worth reciting every night:yup:

From my bride’s side of the family, we have an embroidered wall-hanging with that prayer, plus two lines I (nor anyone else I know outside her family) had learned:

So do I, but those last two lines could upset some children. At the risk of having the Traditionalists be upset at me, I approve and will use the revised version
