I put out a post 11 years ago because I was confused as to why my priest was avoiding eye contact with me. Since then a lot has changed and I wanted to update people who were private messaging me 
My update after 11 years:
This priest became a very close friend of mine. He has been nothing but short of amazing to me and my family. We get together every year at Christmas and he comes over for dinner about once a year and I try to see him in between when I can. We are both very busy and he moved to a parish about a 45 minute drive away.
He buried my MIL…he changed his entire afternoon schedule to be there on short notice. He loves me and my family. My husband loves him too.
He’s the kindest most amazing person I have ever met and I love him dearly. He’s one of my best friends and he’s amazing with my kids. Even my now 12 year old with attitude
I just want to put out there that priests are human beings and very capable of becoming one of your best friends. Over time, the friendship will grow or it won’t. My priest friend has many female friends and he’s nothing but kind and supportive to all of them.
This man is a saint and he is dearly loved wherever he goes; spreading kindness and love. I would say to my formal self, if you both have good and pure intentions, then by all means, be his friend.
We became very close after I went to him for Confession. After that, the awkwardness was gone. He knew I wasn’t out to tempt him and vice versa. He gave my MIL the Eucharist once a week until he changed parishes. He loved my MIL dearly and we all touched his heart. I love him dearly and always will.
