I have settled down to a routine at work concerning prayerful reading. I work 3 PM - 11:30 PM. I have a coffe break at 5 PM, and that is when I read MAGNIFICAT magazine. We are allowed 15 minutes for coffee breaks, and it indeed takes me about 15 minutes to go through morning and evening prayer, the mass readings, the saint for the day, and the daily meditation.
We are allowed 30 minutes for lunch. I don’t actually bother eating lunch. As part of my 1221 fasting program, I eat dinner about noon, and supper when I get home at midnight. So I have 30 minutes of uninterupted time for spiritual reading.
One of the books is DIVINE INTIMACY, a daily reader on Carmalite spirituality.
The other is IN CONVERSATION WITH GOD, by Francis Fernandez, and this is now my favourite daily reader. Written by an Opus Dei Priest, the daily meditations concern living in the world as a lay person, yet consecrated to God. It fits very well into the spirituality of The Rule Of 1221.
So I have sent off for a complete set of the writings of Saint Escriva.
Anyhow, that uses up my 30 mintes, and it’s back to work.
