It might be helpful for you to read Scott Hahn’s books or others who have come from Protestant backgrounds and converted to the Catholic faith. These writers will resonate with you and your experience AND help you understand what you have been taught as a Protestant and reconcile the teachings of the Catholic faith.

La-Petite-Fleur, don’t give up. I often long to get a hug from Jesus, knowing it would really help me when I’m dealing with difficulties/sufferings. (We need to remember that He’s always with us, even if we can’t actually hug Him.)

I second Fizendell’s recommendation to listen to Scott Hahn’s story – you can get a recording of him giving a presentation of his conversion story for FREE at www.catholicity.com (they have lots of other great stuff there too, including FREE CDs on Confession, the Mass, Mary, etc.

One poster in this thread (sorry, don’t remember which one) posted when various denominations were founded and who founded them. Just remember, Catholicism was founded by Jesus when He said to Peter, “Upon this rock I will build my church.”

Keep in mind this. Protestants by their very nature protest the teachings of the Catholic Church. They have been doing that for centuries, don’t let that sway your faith. Some of them are heretics, some of them have an axe to grind, but in general I think that most of them are just misinformed. Also remember that Jesus loved the Church and as Catholics we celebrate his death and resurection every Sunday at mass. We proclaim it, just as He asked and eat His body and drink His blood, just as He commanded.

It’s all in the scriptures. But we also have that beautiful gift of Tradition which Jesus left us through the Holy Spirit. He promised us that the Holy Spirit would protects His Church and remind us of all that we have been taught as we need it. What if tomorrow all the Bibles were burnt/destroyed? Do you think that the Church that Christ established would crumble. No. Because we don’t worship the Bible, we worship Christ.

2 Thessalonians 2:14. Therefore, brethren, stand fast: and hold the traditions, which you have learned, whether by word or by our epistle.

Traditions… See here that the unwritten traditions are no less to be received than their epistles.
