I was talking with Mountie but it said I have a limit in replies and must wait 21 hrs.

I think the problem with our thinking is that I have an Einstein Relativity position when it comes to a finite universe. Absolute knowledge, I believe, only exists in God the Father’s infinite mind. Everything else does not know Determinism or absolutes. I think Jesus said that although he is the Son of God he doesn’t know the day or hour of his second coming. He knows the week and month and year: just not the day or hour.

Mountie

You said before that
There just isn’t enough room to make that jump yet.

And
All idols have always existed because their forms have always been in God. God has eternally spoke the words He spoke to Moses and He always eternally will. Idols did not come into existence when they were created. The concept of an idol has always existed just as long as the concept of human. As soon as God conceives of it, it exists. As soon as we conceive of something, it exists. Because they potentially exist. This does not mean that they actually exist. But they really exist in the potential since, which is real existence.

Me. I think we are at an empasse since you are basing your logical judgements on that of St.Thomas and some other form of logical dogmatism. A liberal judge of my argument might find it more enticing. St. Thomas himself did not like the arguments of St. Anselm. I think my logic is valid and I will stick behind it.

I would be happy to continue the discussion on the original thread. BTW thanks for the discussion.

Hi Michael!

I really enjoyed our discussion! Philosophy has always been one of my favorite subjects and I presume you have a shared interest! I’m not an expert on the forum rules, but I believe that it is most prudent to save discussion on that topic for the post (including waiting the allotted time) as opposed to creating a separate thread. Nonetheless, I think that you are correct that this argument finds a disconnect when applying Thomistic metaphysics. But my original critique involved what I perceived as a faulty jump from premise to conclusion. Perhaps we can continue the discussion, if you will, on the original thread.

@MichaelLlenos, @Mountie, one of you guys has got to add a profile pic, 👀 you look like identical twins! 🤣
