You probably had an “updated” edition, not the original. It is not surprising that there was no mention of abortion. Chambers lived from 1874-1917. It’s fine as far as it goes, but I remember it having a lot of ‘prayers’ and readings that sounded like left-wing politics. I have nothing against treating the earth well, but there were many ‘environmental’ sorts of readings and nothing at all about protecting unborn children. After awhile, it just started to rub me wrong.

The updates were actually more in terms of modernising the language. IOW, not using references from the KJV. None of Chambers’ original ideas were updated. So, it basically was the spirituality of his day. His wife submitted his writings for publication. His bio says he was married in 1910 and died in 1917, so the writings were done some time during that period. The book is kind of a diary type of thing. He wrote a reflection for each day.Thank you.
