I know this is a “mystery”…but does anyone have a clue as to what the CCC 675 means when it says “will unveil the ‘mystery of iniquity’”…I have my own ideas…but I am fascinated by mysteries and I was just wondering if any of you want to take a stab at it.

Correct me if im wrong,

‘Mystery of iniquity’ means the ‘Mystery of evil’ no?

Yeah…or of wickedness or immorality…but what is the mystery???

There is so much to learn…

Indeed,

Think about it. God made creation perfect. Then the brightest of his creation one day, simply decides “I am better”.

How could evil…nothingness…come out of perfection? Only in life eternal shall we know…atleast i suppose.

But God cannot give us all answers, if he did, in our fallen state, we would surely mess things up.

The “mystery of iniquity” is mentioned in 2 Thes 2:7, as “mystery of lawlessness” in the RSV.

In The International Bible Commentary: A Catholic and Ecumenical Commentary for the Twenty-First Century, ed. by William R. Farmer, et al. (The Liturgical Press: 1998), in its commentary on 2 Thes 2:6-7, on page 1726, says that the “mystery of lawlessness” is “the power of evil already operating secretly in the world.”

Good job of taking the time to look this up. I always appreciate when people go the extra mile to answer a question. Many times they don’t even get a thanks or acknowledgement.

Thanks Todd…thanks Space Ghost
