This is not a parody of “City of God”, but it follows the melody
(inspired by what happens at our house on Sunday mornings):

Awake from your slumber,
it’s twenty- to-nine.
Mass starts at nine-thirty,
we haven’t much time.

I woke you up first at eight,
and then again at eight-thirty.
Why should we be made to come late
'cause you can’t get out of bed?

Get out of the shower;
by now you are clean.
We don’t have an hour:
it’s now nine-fifteen.

If you really move it along
there’s a chance that we can still make it
by the end of the Entrance Song
or before they start on the Creed.

We’re out in the car now.
We’re waiting for you,
but you are still searching
for your left shoe.

I must keep on nagging for God
to get you out on a Sunday.
Yes, I’ll keep on nagging for God,
because that’s what mothers do.

Or wives in my case 😉

Very very cute…I might busy myself with making up one!

Awesome
And so appropriate - will email to DH.
We are always struggling to make it on time for 9.30 mass on Sunday.
Thanks

Haha, that was good.

May your tears be turned into dancing.
:amen: …and all of us be encouraged and faithful that all this nagging will someday pay off!!

Well, now that the person who inspired this song is 16 and has a driver’s license, he usually drives himself to 11:30 Mass.

Why don’t you all go to the 11:30 mass? And forgive my skepticism, but I was a teen once…are you sure that he is actually going to Mass?

11:30 Mass lets out too late for me to make the Sunday dinner required by DH. #2 son is a good kid. I’m sure he’s going to Mass. There’s nowhere else he can go in this burg on a Sunday morning.

WAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAA!!!
I showed this to DH and he laughed and said he saw 2 of our 4 in that song!!! So true! Our #2 child (soon to be 16) and our #4 child (10) fit the song to a T. Why is it that when you have more than 1 child you see everything in complete opposites? My #1 child (18) gets himself up and goes to 7am mass and many times takes #3 child with him (14 yo) but the other two kids…God bless them, are looking for their shoes when we are waiting in the car. That was really good!!!
