Name of the Church?

So I was just here in my living room thinking about Mormons… haha I was just thinking about my best friends who are mormons… I’m not converting or anything hahaha
ANYWAY I was thinking of the name of their Church…

THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINS
SOOOO…
What is the name of the Church?
and by the Church I mean The religion/the people/the body of Christ under the Pope…

Is it Roman Catholic Church?

but what about our eastern brothers and sisters are they also the Roman Catholic Church…

or would it just be Catholic Church?

Right, it’s just the Catholic Church.

By the way, did you ever notice that several years ago the Mormons changed the logo for their church from “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints” to

The Church of
Jesus Christ
of Latter-Day Saints
 
Well Catholic means universal in Greek. I think St/ Ignatious of Antioch first applied that name to the Church. We are a Universal Church because it includes the West (Roman Catholic) the East (Eastern Catholic or Oriental Churches), but when broken down, we are atleast in the West the Roman Catholic Church, and technically from what I heard the official name is Latin Catholic Church. Atleast this is what I know, if anyone knows more I am sure they will pitch in.

Oh okaay thanks 😃 haha yeah hmm maybe we should change it too… hmm but what is more important the word Church? or Catholic? hmm

Latin Catholic Church? hmm really?
 
Originally, the word “Catholic” was used when one wanted to refer to the whole Church rather than to particular Churches (Church of Rome, Church of Ephesus, Church of Antioch, Church of Los Angeles, etc.). However, it came to signify the true Church as various Churches and other groups broke away through schism and heresy–those Churches and communities were not part of the universal body–they were not part of the Catholic Church.

Why the question?

Look at the *Catechism of the Catholic Church *promulgated by an Apostolic Constitution from Pope John Paul II.

You need look no further.
