When my (now 3 year old) son was born, I named my brother (a Protestant) as the Godfather. I was under the impression that as long as he agreed that he would raise my son as a Catholic, he didn’t have to be a Catholic.
If protestants can’t be Godparents, does my son have a Godfather? If not, do I need to name one now?
