I heard somewhere or read somewhere that even before you were born, God already named you or something like that. Is that true?

Are you perhaps thinking of the verse that goes something like “before you were born, God knew you.”

Jeremiah 1:4-5 says
“4 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 5 Before I formed thee in the bowels of thy mother, I knew thee: and before thou camest forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee, and made thee a prophet unto the nations.”
In context it was directed to Jermiah the prophet, but that might be what they were trying to say.
As far as names are concerned there is a promise of Jesus to give all believers a new name…
Revelation 2:17 says:
“17 He, that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches: To him that overcometh, I will give the hidden manna, and will give him a white counter, and in the counter, a new name written, which no man knoweth, but he that receiveth it.”

I don’t know. I was just curious because I was adopted and had a name then when I came to the U.S. I was given my new name, Nicole. Just wondering.

“You formed by inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb. I praise you, so wonderfully you made me; wonderful are your works! My very self you knew; my bones were not hidden from you. When I was being made in secret, fashioned as in the depths of the earth. Your eyes foresaw my actions; in your book all are written down; my days were shaped, before one came to be.”
I would equate this with God’s knowing everything about us before time began - even our name. But no, I would not say this meant that He “named” me.

GASP!!!
A confirmation name?!?!? What on earth? I never knew we had to have one! Yes, I was baptized (with a Presybeterian church) but didn’t have a clue about a confirmation name! Explain?

Chill, Dudette! It isn’t necessary. In my parish it is outright discouraged.
You choose a patron Saint (if your name is Nicole, St. Nicholas, your “name Saint” could be your confirmation name) based on some affinity you have with a particular Saint – it can be someone you wish to emulate or someone whose life was something like yours. That Saint becomes your special spiritual friend. I chose Naaman the Leper (you can chose a male if you are a female or vice versa) from the Old Testament. Patriarchs and Prophets can be used as well as canonized (or beatified) Saints.
