Nashville nuns attracting most US postulants

http://cathnews.com/uploads/images/2009/09/0907-nun-l.jpgWith 23 postulants this year at the Motherhouse of Nashville’s Dominican Sisters of St Cecilia, the order has the largest group of new nuns in training in the United States.
While many religious orders in the United States are declining, the Nashville Dominicans are flourishing, The Tennessean reports.

How cool!!!:tiphat:

That is such good news. We all pray every day that there will be an increase in callings to the religious life. I think this order is like many who are attracting postulants throughout the world who retain their distinctive habit and live their lives according to the traditional guideines.

The Ann Arbor Dominicans admitted 17 aspirants to their postulancy program on August 28th! These two communities are great. If I was called to be a teacher, they would be tops on my list. 😉

I know a young woman who just entered the postulancy this past month with the Nashville Dominicans. Since that time, I’ve read a bit more about them, and I must say that I struggle a bit with some pride 😉 🙂 that they are in my state. I must say ditto to CarmeliteGirl! I don’t think I’m called to teach, but if I were, the Nashville Dominicans would be the top of my list as well.

Thanks and blessings, Shoshana, for posting the news about Nashville’s new postulant class. It’s joyous, wonderful news for both the Church and the community. :dancing:

The daughter of a good friend and our parish’s RCIA teacher just took her final vows for the Nashville Dominicans this summer! What a wonderful community, God bless the work they do! Before that family, I was not familiar with the O.P. Now, I believe that may be where God is leading me. What mysterious, awesome ways he works in.

May all religious communities be blessed as the Nashville Dominican Sisters have been with such success with young vocations!

You probably know that the Ann Arbor Dominicans were started by a group of sisters from Nashville. Their Mother Superior was a senior, one of six from that class to enter the novitiate, when I was there. She was drum majorette and a beautiful girl. She is a true blessing to the order. Either convent would be a wonderful place to be.

One of those new postulants is from my area!

I would see her and her father come to Perpetual Adoration on Wednesday mornings. Our main Adoration Coordinator [whom I found out is ‘retiring’ from the position come January 1] typed out an annoucement concerning this girl’s entrance into the Nashville Dominicans, and tacked it up on a small bulleting board next to a vocations brochure from there.

When I didn’t see the girl last week, I went out in the hallway where the schedules were posted, and then I put ‘two and together’ and said to myself, ‘So that’s why I haven’t seen her lately!’

May the Nashville Dominicans, the Ann Arbor Dominicans, and all good and faithful religious communities increase in numbers and in fervor!

Woo Hoo! :extrahappy:  :bounce:

I love to read anything about either the Nashville or the Ann Arbor Dominicans. They make me very happy! 😃 I am hoping to enter the Ann Arbor Dominicans next year, and am very excited about athletic recreation every day!! 😃 I’m even more excited about the prayer life though. Chanting the Office four times a day, daily Adoration and Mass, the Office of the Dead every night and the Salve procession every night!!! I’m super duper excited about the Salve procession!!! 👍
