October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.
October 15 is National Awareness Day. It is a day to remember our children lost through miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal death.

I have been amazed, during the few months that I have been part of these boards, how many of us have children in Heaven. No matter how long it has been for each of us, we carry our children in our hearts, and our lives will never be the same.

In years past, when our local support group was active, we sponsored tree plantings in local parks. Each year we would pick a park in our area to plant a tree and hold a memorial service for our babies. We were written up in our local paper. Some larger communities sponsor memory walks during October. Anyone wishing to do something in their own community in honor of their children can bring awareness that our children are never forgotten.

On October 15, please join with other grieving parents in lighting a candle in your home from 7PM -8PM (whatever your local time zone is) to remember the chilldren who are waiting for us to hold them in Heaven.

I never knew about that day! I have yet to become a mother PERIOD, but this will be in my thoughts on that day. 🙂
