VIII. This being He placed in paradise— whatever that paradise may have been (having honoured him with the gift of free will, in order that good might belong to him as the result of his choice, no less than to Him Who had implanted the seeds of it)— to till the immortal plants, by which is perhaps meant the Divine conceptions, both the simpler and the more perfect; naked in his simplicity and inartificial life; and without any covering or screen; for it was fitting that he who was from the beginning should be such. And He gave Him a Law, as material for his free will to act upon. This Law was a commandment as to what plants he might partake of, and which one he might not touch.

In this period,
Benedict, still in his early twenties, rejected the
temptations of the flesh by throwing himself naked into the
midst of nettle and briar bushes.

37.) His disciples said, “Who are you really? When will we see you as you are, and how will we
know it is you?

Jesus said, “When you can stand before Me naked and unashamed, spiritually speaking, then
you will see me as I Am … the only Son of the living God. You will no longer fear these
unanswered questions, because you will accept Me with a childlike faith.”

IMHO, The primary issue comes down to the perception that nudity equals sex.

For those that don’t equate the two, they may be able to be perfectly and innocently nude with others without any temptations. However, most American do equate nudity with sex. They are only nude when taking a shower or having sex. And many of them are so uncomfortable with their own body that the lights must be off.

I googled nudity equals sex. There is a website( does not have any porn) that discusses this more thoughtfully.
emergingnudist.blogspot.com/2009/05/nudity-equals-sex.html

The root problem is that these two ideas are strongly linked for most Americans. When they think of one, they think of the other. So much so that we have had to pass laws in each state specifically allowing mothers to breastfeed their babies without fear of persecution. How absurd is that?

I’d love to have an analogy that does not involve nudity but nothing is coming quickly to mind.

To those who may think this is a black and white issue, I am not sure how.

As the post above says, nudity = sex in the Western culture and in people’s mind. However, does that automatically make the act of being nude a sin, or wrong?

For example. Many believe, and rightfully so, that if you do an action and it causes someone else to sin, then you in turn are sinning. So being nude may cause another person to feel lust towards you, which means you should not be nude.

However, lust is not only a byproduct of nudity alone. It unfortunately could be a byproduct of just about anything.

A woman walks to work in skirt showing her legs. A man thinks lustful thoughts because he sees the skin of her legs. That woman must not wear skirts then.

A man who is cutting the grass, takes off his shirt because he is hot. A woman driving by lustfully looks at the man. The man must not go shirtless.

A woman wears makeup to make her face look (to society’s standards) more attractive. A man lustfully looks at her face. The woman must not wear makeup. Or maybe not even show her face.

Do you get where I am going? Nudity in certain situations can lead to sin and is wrong. But to blanket this “wrong” across Naturism is irresponsible. Maybe if we were more comfortable with our bodies and nudity in general, if nudity was more commonplace, lust would diminish.

I am not a Naturalist at all. I do prefer my clothes on. But I also do not believe someone is sinning who prefers their clothes off. I have to know more about the situation before making any type of judgement.

Well, God intended us, human beings, to be fully naked. Adam and Eve were created and lived for many years nude, or so the bible claims. Naturism is not about the sexualized body or voyeurism, in fact it is openly opposed to that. Naturists believe that the body should be cherished and respected and should not be covered up. They are opposed to the financial exploitation of the naked human body. I support Naturism in all aspects and believe that the Church should do the same as Naturism respects God’s true intentions. Law against naturism are simply immoral and bigoted. So what do you think?
Your view obviously contradicts the Bible.
It was actually God who made the first set of clothing and clothed Adam and Eve, so obviously God wanted it that way, AFTER the fall.
Genesis 3:2121 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
People often end up inadvertently finding a type of morality that coincidentally supports their own preferences. I find myself doing it too but it’s something to be careful of.

I don’t know about the USA or New Zealand ( I wish too ) but in Europe all Naturist camps are without exception hives of promiscuous activity. One should not forget that Adam add Eve were without sin in their world before the fall. When I head of camping into remote areas of Ireland or Scotland I often go Commando and go skinny dipping. But always when on my own company. I would never bear my naked body to a stranger.
But I have to say be very careful when barbecuing wieners!!!

Love and Blessings,
Richard.🙂

I don’t need to worry about that. My concern is that it may prompt them to tear out their eyes.

The clothing was likey prompted by their shame? or maybe by the fact that they outside the garden would be exposed to poor weather? maybe.

Their clothing represents death as God was forced to kill a young animal ( lamb? ) to cover the shame of their sins. The fist sacrifice for man’s sin in the Bible a Lamb and the last a Lamb.

Well my wife and myself have been to several naturist “camps”(resorts really!) like Euronat in France,Ada Bojana in Montenegro to name but 2 and never witnessed ANY licentious behaviour, indeed as part of the rules, any inappropriate activity would result in immediate expulsion. Euronat is like a “centerparcs” but clothesfree, with whole families doing normal holiday activities but without the hindrance of clothing.
I could see no sinful activity and certainly when you are among a thousand naked people of all ages, genders, colours and sizes, in their normal natural state, it soon comes to pass that it is the person and what they are that counts, not what they wear or not wear!
