Anyone know of a book on Charity? I really lack this virtue and I know how important it is, I can’t seem to be charitable, I know I need to be but I just can’t get myself to be. I almost need a “Dummies guide to Charity” (I don’t think that exists). Are there any good books about it (other than the Bible or Catechism)? Thanks.

Well, there’s the New Testament. Or, how about *The Hidden Power of Kindness * by Fr. Lawrence Lavasik.

Thanks, I’ll check that book out. Any other suggestions?

I just finished The Story of a Soul, the autobiography of Saint Therese of Lisieux and found it to be very inspirational. Two things that stood out as an example for me were that she took the nun in her convent whom she least liked and tried to be extra kind to her, and also she would do little kindnesses in secret for people.

Maybe you just need to start in little ways–Therese had her “Little Way”–and it will gradually become natural to you. And if you have the time, I would definitely read the Therese book for inspiration.

Thanks, I have the St. Therese book but have not had a chance to read it yet.

St. Francis of Assisi is a wonderful example of a Charitable person. Maybe you could find some literature on him? God bless.
