I’m doing a class on prayer this Sunday, and when I get to intercession of saints, I wanted to illustrate to them that saints carry into heaven an interest in those things they had passions for in life. St. Francis, for instance, loved nature, and is therefore a patron of gardons and animals. I wanted a powerful, attention-getting story to illustrate why a certain saint is the patron that he is. For instance, the story of Stephen getting stoned to death illustrates why he is the patron of coffin makers and also bricklayers. But, I know there are some really good stories that I’m not bringing to mind. Any help?
