Hello I am an ex Mormon interested in the catholic faith! I am studying a bit online. I live in a small Utah town and the nearest Catholic Church is 30 miles away. I don’t have a car. I have tried calling the church and it just rings and rings, any advice? Thanks!

Hi thank you! Well I am interested in Catholicism because I like the values, the prayers, lots of things! I have been studying lots of Christian faiths since leaving Mormonism. And have come to the conclusion that Catholic Church will fit me best and I believe it is the church that will bring me closer to God!

I’m so very happy for you that you’ve left the cult! I assume you studied/researched your way to the truth… once you know, you can never ‘un’ know. 🙂

I was thinking that with COVID-19 and quarantines it’s possible the church doesn’t have anyone working full time in the office right now. It’s odd they wouldn’t have voicemail though - so I’m wondering if perhaps they have an old or wrong number listed? But there should be an email address on their church website you can contact them at perhaps. This time of quarantines and mandates is really difficult, but you have many ways to study and learn on your own - Youtube videos are awesome too - that when things start to ‘get back to normal’ you should be able to reach someone in the office to speak to.
Since that is the closest Catholic church, it’s possible there are other people where you live that you could car pool with once we return to ‘normal’ again and you can attend mass!

Hi and thank you! Yes I did study a LOT about Mormonism, and I do not believe in the doctrines and teachings. Was a member my whole life. It’s sad because most of them are good nice people just been brainwashed and indoctrinated. I pray for them daily.
About the Catholic Church here being out because of COVID very possible didn’t think of that. I will find an email.
I also found daily mass on YouTube so that’s great!

Thank you for the advice! As of now I am going to concentrate on studying and praying about Catholicism! 😊

It seems like most Catholic churches do pretty well with email these days. I am currently converting from the Church of Christ. Keep at it. It is worth it. Praying for you.

If you have to wait, wait. The Lord knows your intention. That being said, if you can find a way to get a lift to church, please do so. During the pandemic, I know people are having a hard time getting to church. My sister is staying with a friend and they wouldn’t let her in the church without signing up for something. We don’t do that where I live, as the church is at reduced capacity and has not reached it. Be mindful, that it’s a weird year to become Catholic (not a bad year, just a weird year)

Welcome @Luvlylady!!
A couple things that might help.
  1. Look for RCIA videos on YouTube. Just search for “RCIA” and you’ll find a bunch.
  2. Listen to a podcast “Called to Communion” with Dr. David Anders. That is an EWTN show for people considering the Catholic Faith and he explains things very well.
God Bless!

Called to Communion
It’s also a live EWTN show, that you can watch on YouTube at 2 pm my time (Eastern, I live in South Carolina), or listen to on the EWTN app. Or, where I live, listen to on the local Catholic radio station.

Laudate app is good, you can find there the Catechism, hundreds of prayers inc. a virtual rosary, some nice podcasts about different theological topics etc. And daily Bible readings.
I liked Ascension Presents and Emmanuel Maillard for Youtube channels, but do try to contact to your nearest parish, if they have a website is may help. Our church is doing a remote Alpha course, perhaps they do similar?
