My hubby and I just moved to Iowa. As you may know we are flooded here. The 3 Catholic Churches are all in the same area (not sure how this happend). I don’t think the churches are flooded… at least I hope not. Looking at the map, they may be. They are very close to the Iowa River. The roads to get to the church are flooded. There is probably an alternative road to get there somehow but we just moved here and don’t know them.

We want to go but don’t know how to get there. What should we do?

If the roads are flooded, for heaven’s sake stay home. If you cannot attend, there is no obligation.

Thank you,

I think I am being too scrupulous.

I looked up a church further away, but they only have one Mass at 9 am.

Ok, I will stay home.

First of all, welcome to Iowa! I’m in the non-flooded part (NW). Please don’t risk your safety- you are under no obligation if the roads are flooded, and if you don’t know the alternative routes yet.

God Bless.

Yes, please do not risk your safety, or the safety of your family.

Keep your family safe. You might call the Parishes and ask what the situation is, there is a chance if they are flooded that they are having Mass in an alternate location.
